MLS playoffs: Houston come away with a draw against Seattle
SoccerBlog.com —
Pulsating atmosphere. A sea of green with a few flecks of orange. Deflected passes. Lots of opportunities. Awful finishing. Pat Onstad's momentary lapse of reason. Nate Jacqua bloodied and bandaged carrying on like a gladiator. Lots of fouls and yellow cards.
These were some of the more visceral images of the Seattle vs Houston match which ended in a fascinating draw but not before they proved that the shortest distance between two points is a not a straight line. And on the one occasion it was, Pat Onstad was there to save Jacqua's header. Otherwise it was angles which missed. Patrick ...

Outstanding atmosphere, high intensity (ehem…Pat Onstad), and end to end action. But the veteran Dynamo get the tie going back to Houston for a Sunday afternoon battle.

When you say to the uninitiated that you just watched a really exciting nil-nil game they tend to look at you in manner that suggests you are not all there; for them it's like going to Vegas and not gambling. But if you know what's what, a scoreless draw is akin to two blind-folded guys fighting; they may never land a punch but the near misses are what make it entertaining. Remember U.S.-Argentina at Giants Stadium? Sh*t was classic. Not a goal in sight but I have never sang so loud and so long in my life (or in a downpour). Last night's match wasn't quite as epic (from TV at least but those in ...
Dynamo 0, Sounders 0: The aftermath
Soccer y Fútbol —
One respect - and perhaps the only one - in which the Dynamo did not match Seattle was its aggressive and dangerous look throughout. Sure, the Dynamo came out firing and mustered a few chances, but they never overwhelmed Seattle's back four. The Sounders, on the other hand, clearly leaned hard on the Dynamo as the game progressed. At times, all the Dynamo could do was defend frantically, and all their fans could do was hope for the storm to pass. This will have to change next time out. But for now there is no denying that, other than a win at Qwest Field, the result was as good as it gets in a two-game series. Watch some highlights: Catch up on your reading: ...

Dynamo 0, Sounders 0: The aftermath | Main October 31, 2009 Dynamo Report Card: It's a 'B' effort w/ room for improvement You know you missed them. I'm sure the Dynamo did, too. Back for the playoffs from a long hiatus and for a limited time only, I bring to you... the Dynamo Report Card. Just so you know, I miss grading the Dynamo and the static (from fans and players alike) that comes with it. every once in a while. But, as you know, time constraints this season have prevented me from blogging as much as I'd like. GOALKEEPER: A The good: Pat Onstad made key saves to deny the Sounders. The bad: Can't think of anything. Room for improvement: ...

North America Chivas USA 2 - Los Angeles 2 + Chivas USA Coach Preki walks into the press conference after the game and virtually the first thing out of his mouth are the words: "I guess it was a fun game for the spectators, not so much for the coaches." Galaxy Coach Bruce Arena (who hadn't hear what Preki said) followed suit: "Good game for the fans, I'm not sure about the coaches." New England 2 - Chicago 1 + Revs forward Edgaras Jankauskas made his ...
