Houston Receiver Breaks Leg in Gnarly Collision
The Big Lead —
This is gruesome. Injury happens at about the one minute mark, and 25 seconds later, they slow the replay down and you can hear Rece Davis wince as he’s making the call.
OUCH!
Friends of the Program —
From the Houston/Marshall game last night. Prepare to have your constitution challenged at the 1:15 mark.
Hey Marshall, lets move all of those metal apparati that may casue career ending injuries from the playing field next time. I can only assume that there was a live alligator farm at the other end, just to even things ...
Which injury is worse? Greg Warren’s knee buckling or Patrick Edwards’ compound fracture of his right leg
Sports Crackle Pop —
Even though I was at the Steelers game, I don’t remember this Greg Warren injury. Damn you Jim Bean! But after watching the video, maybe it was better I didn’t see it. It looks so painful.
But what I did see last night was Patrick Edwards of the Houston Cougars trying to track down a deep pass in against Marshall last night. Not only did he not make the catch, but he ran right into a cart parked a couple feet from the back of the endzone resulting in a compund fracture of his right leg. What genius decided to park the cart that close to the field?!?! And I wonder if there will be a lawsuit from this?
Speedy recoveries to both and hopefully ...
Marshall Band Cart Destroys Leg
F Juice.com —
Houston WR Patrick Edwards, runs deep for a pass from his quarterback, Blake Joseph, ran out of the back of the end zone into a band equipment cart parked just beyond the out-of-bounds line. The impact, captured by ESPN’s cameras, caused a compound fracture of Edwards’ right leg according to the Houston Chronicle.
Nice work Marshall, way to keep the field safe. [TBL]

Houston Receiver Breaks Leg
Walker Sports —
Aghh man, this one is just painful to watch. Talk about doing everything right, laying out to make the big catch, and just catching the short end of the stick. This poor kid just got beat up by a wagon and it will cost him the rest of his season.
Who The Hell Put That Cart There?
AwfulAnnouncing —
I keep forgetting to tune in for Tuesday night Football on ESPN, but I know now that it's a must watch every single week. Last night Rece Davis, Mark May and Lou Holtz were on the call of the Houston-Marshall game and witnessed one of the worst Sports injuries ever. ...

Bowlin': Will Air Force complete a pass? And other burning questions for the Armed Forces Bowl
Dr. Saturday —
• Sigh: Must we actually ... "throw"? When Air Force and Houston met in the regular season, the academy went down as the first team in ages to actually win a game without completing a pass, racking up 31 points on 380 yards rushing despite going 0-for-7 through the air in a near-hurricane in September. Under more favorable conditions, the Falcons still rivaled Navy as the only team to log more than 700 carries while mounting a five-game winning streak at midseason in which they attempted fewer than 10 passes in every game.
Air Force's challenge today: Do not attempt a pass. Come on, Navy did ...
Tennessee WR Ahmad Paige Ran Into a Brick Wall … and Lived to Tell About it
Larry Brown Sports —
... I think (and hope) that Paige is doing well. I guess when they said that people would run through a brick wall for Lane Kiffin, they weren’t joking. By the way, end zones are starting to get pretty scary these days. And since we’re on the subject of Lane Kiffin too, I’m starting to doubt his character more and more and think Al Davis isn’t (as) crazy as we thought he was. ...

The Houston Run 'n Shoot, then and now
Dr. Saturday —
Part of the Doc's Mid-Major Week.
Quick: Name the NCAA's leader in total yardage in 2008. Even if the headline tipped you to the school, it's a good bet you're a little slow on the name: Case Keenum.
That's understandable, because Keenum's prolific sophomore season didn't generate much noise -- the only games Houston played on national TV were more memorable for a grisly injury and kicking off way too early on New Year's Eve, respectively. Keenum wasn't even considered the best quarterback in Conference USA. He's not particularly coveted by pro scouts. The kid doesn't even have a decent YouTube compilation. ...
