Houston Rockets: There is a new 'Big Three' in town
thehoopdoctors.com — when most people look back on the 2007-08 season for the Rockets they will remember ‘The Streak’. The Rockets went on an amazing 22 game win streak last year, second best in NBA history. However throughout the whole streak I couldn’t help but think in the back of my mind that the Rockets of 2008 ... (more) Houston Rockets: There is a new 'Big Three' in town

Now That's a Game! Blazers in OT 101-99
Blaze of Love — WOW.  A big thanks to Charles Barkley for calling this a "boring" game at half time.  How'd that finish work out for ya, Chuck? In case you didn't get to see this game, you missed one hell of a finish.  It went something like this: In regulation, a defensive stop by Roy on Artest to get the ball back followed by a ...

Basketborgasm
Pure Point — After watching the last 1.9 seconds of the Rockets-Blazers game, I can now die happy. As a Rockets fan, I am crushed, but as an even bigger basketball fan, I have seen that there is light in this world. [edit] Now, with video! [courtesy of Upside and Motor] ...

Game Recaps 11/6/08
Upside and Motor — Magic 98, Sixers 88   Blazers 101, Rockets 99 But, if a picture is worth a thousand words, and standard video is around 24 frames per second...I think you see where I'm going with this.  If for whatever reason you missed the end of this game (or even the highlights), please, for the love of all that is holy, watch the damn clip: I knew there was a reason I have Joel Kimmel's painting of Brandon Roy hanging in my living room.  Well, besides the fact that Joel is awesome. Hat tip to Blaze of Love for the clip. ...

Someone Forgot To Tell The Blazers & Rockets The Playoffs Don’t Start In Early November
Can't Stop The Bleeding — Seriously, there’s not supposed to be a Game Of The Year candidate on November 6. Brandon Roy apparently told an overseas journalist, “Obama winning the election is bigger than any shot I could make.”  Perhaps, but Obama only won one election.

Brandon Roy shoots down the Rockets in overtime
Sports Crackle Pop — If you missed the fantastic finish between the Houston Rockets and Portland Trailblazers last night you are in luck as Kellex over at TheBlazeofLove has you covered. It was big shot after big shot. First Brandon Roy, then Yao Ming, and a buzzer beater by Roy to finish off the Rockets in overtime. If you want the abridged finish, you can see Brandon Roy’s buzzer beater after the jump…

Brandon Roy Is A Golden God
AwfulAnnouncing — So what did you miss while going to bed early last night? Just a ridiculous finish in the Portland-Houston game that included a three-point play by Yao to put the Rockets up one followed by a ridiculous Brandon Roy three to win it with .08 left on the clock. And that was just in overtime. Let's go to the videotape! YES! God you gotta love Marv Albert, even though he was about 20 seconds slow on the Yao Ming foul call. I can't emphasize enough how fun the Blazers are to watch. I know I'm about the 100,000th person on the bandwagon, but I'm officially on checked ...

Brandon Roy Will Not Be Denied
FanHouse — Filed under: Rockets, Trail Blazers, NBA Last NightHoly heck. We had your prototypical April barnburner in Portland last night ... (p)re-enacted in the first week of November. You may think this clip ends after the first minute with Brandon Roy's killer jumper to put the Blazers up two with 1.9 seconds left in overtime. But Yao Ming has something to say about it. And Roy has one more thing, too. Just watch. The highlight comes a bit out of context, too: Roy and Yao had rather bad shooting nights leading up to this exchange. Still, once Roy potentially lost the game by ...

In Case You Missed It
postgameheroes.com — Steelers vs Redskins: Sack Montage | Home In Case You Missed It By i-Maque | November 7, 2008 [image] Check out this epic OT finish between the Portland Trailblazers and Houston Rockets last night. The highlights: Brandon Roy hits a jumpshot with 1.8 seconds left to put Portland up 98-96. After a timeout, Yao Ming hits a fadeaway jumper and a foul shot to put Houston up 99-98 with 0.8 seconds left. Portland calls a timeout, and then former Terrapin Steve Blake inbounds the ball to Brandon Roy, whose desperate 3 point shot went in as time expired. Pretty exciting. Ballhype: hype it up! Ball Don't Lie — Sometimes, you just don't care about how sleep you get. With the Rockets down two with 1.9 seconds to go in overtime — following a clutch Brandon Roy jumper, of course — Houston inbounds to Yao Ming who hits a tough fadeaway and is fouled. He sinks the free throw and puts Houston up one with 0.8 ticks left. Game, red blouses, right? Turn off the TV, go to bed and dream about unicorns with machine guns. Um, no. If you haven't seen this finish yet, enjoy. (via ClutchFans, Das Haus, AA, etc., etc.)

Wild Times In Portland Last Night
RealClearSports - Blog — If you missed the ending the of Rockets-Trail Blazers game last night, you missed one of the crazier endings you'll ever see in an NBA game. How crazy? How about three game-winning shots in the final three seconds of overtime, including a 30-foot prayer as time expired. Don't worry, there's video of the insanity. What a backbreaking way to lose a game.

Brandon Roy is good at basketball
Randball — In case you missed it, here are the incredible final seconds of last night’s game between the Rockets and Blazers (thanks to Jon and Awful Announcing ). Watch as Brandon Roy goes from hero to goat to hero. Then cry a little when you realize he could be in a Wolves uniform right now if not for the Randy Foye swap. We are still willing to give that trade more time to play out, but every passing day it looks worse and worse. When you also consider that Mario Chalmers, the Kansas point guard the Wolves smartly drafted in the second round then maddeningly sold to Miami hours later, is leading the league in steals right now … well, that hurts. To the video: ...

Roy’s OT Heroics
Both Teams Played Hard — Here’s video of the last 30 seconds of last night’s Blazers/Rockets OT. Un-be-goddamn-lievable. What a finish. What a beast. The rest of the League should be embarrassed that it let Portland get both Roy and LaMarcus in the same draft. Good to see Yao coming through after his recent struggles here and here as well.

Motivationals: Determination
2nd Round Reach - NBA and Fantasy Basketball Commentary for the Truly Obsessed — I know it's early, so there's guaranteed to be some contenders, but this is guaranteed to go down as one of (if not the) best ending to an Association game this year. Last season, Brandon Roy was an All-Star mainly to give some representation to the Blazers after their tidy win streak in the early season. While I think he (like that entire Portland squad) was a little under-ripe, but I don't think it was an unforgivable mistake to give him props for his talent, which truly will rank him among the NBA's elite. Whether or not he'll make his ascendancy to greatness this year, I'm still not quite sure (though he'll probably be a top ...

Things Got Kinda Crazy in Portland Last Night
Hail Mary Jane — I hope you stayed up and watched the Trailblazers/Rockets game last night. If you didn't you missed the best game thusfar this season. It's funny too because at halftime, Charles Barkley commented on how boring the game was and how he wanted to fall asleep. I don't know if the teams heard that or what but they definitely turned it up later in the game. The Rockets had to make a comeback in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime and in the overtime shit really popped off. Check out this video from the last 30 seconds of the game. The video is long but it's worth it. ...

Never Let It Be Said That Our Coverage Of Yao Ming Is Anything But Fair And Balanced
Tirico Suave — Yao was again below average at best last night (13 pts, 4-13 FG, 6 reb, one fewer than Chuck Hayes despite being on the court for 15 extra minutes) but he did almost win the game for the Rockets. I found the TNT postgame criticism of Yao’s inbound defense a little unnecessary. Barkley basically said he was out of position and should have made more of an effort to get in the passing lane, as opposed to standing between inbounder Steve Blake and the rim and trying to prevent a cheap, desperation backside oop. I feel when a dude throws up a perfect 28 foot shot with 0.8 seconds left in overtime, you just have to take in stride and move on. Not much else you can do.

Brandon Roy Hits Game Winning 30-foot Shot vs Houston Rockets
The Critical Fanatic — We’re well into Friday night’s NBA action, but as I continue to catch up on the news this week I couldn’t pass up this video of the Portland Trail Blazers - Houston Rockets overtime finish on Thursday night. In the final two seconds, three ridiculous game-winning worthy shots were hit. First, Brandon Roy hit a clutch jumper. Then Yao Ming countered with his own long range shot, displaying his unique versatility for someone his size. With 0.8 seconds left, the Trail Blazers were in position to catch and shot without hesitation and All-Star Brandon Roy delivered with a 30-foot three pointer that hit nothing but net… and hardly even that. ...

NBA Highlights Of The Week: Brian Skinner Fail, Yao Ming Vs Brandon Roy, Derrick Rose Dunk On Leandro Barbosa

Here's some of the best moments in NBA action for the last few nights. Wednesday Lakers Vs Clippers, in which Brian Skinner demonstrates an innate inability to jump I suppose we could give the guy a break. I mean, he's only listed at 6'9".
