BJ Penn apologizes … sorta
Fightlinker.com — What better way to follow up the ‘BJ sez GSP did roids’ post than with a ‘BJ apologizing for saying GSP did roids’ post? Note he doesn’t take back the accusation, he just apologizes for his comments becoming fodder for an entire day’s worth of blogging and forum drama. BJ sounds like he’s putting the blame on Kevin Iole this time (it’s always someone, right?), but let’s face it … those quotes would have made the rounds regardless of if they were part of a headline or tucked away in the ass end of a column.

BJ Penn Apologizes to “All Parties Involved,” But Doesn’t Retract Statement About GSP/Steroids
CagePotato.com — I think we’re starting to get a clearer picture of what B.J. Penn means when he says he feels misrepresented by the media.  Judging by this pseudo-apology, he feels like he ought to be able to make damaging, baseless claims about other fighters without the media turning it into a big deal by reporting exactly what he said.  For example, just because he says he thinks Georges St. Pierre is on steroids, that doesn’t mean you have to go running around and actually asking people if there’s even a shred of evidence to back up that assertion.  Honestly, ...

Penn backtracks on steroid comments
Watch Kalib Run —   Being absent on the day that B.J. Penn decides to accuse Georges St. Pierre of using steroids was clearly poor planning on my part. Yesterday Penn was quoted in Kevin Iole's latest column, accusing the UFC welterweight champion of steroid use with zero proof other than his gut feeling. Since this is America all you need is a gut feeling to accuse someone of cheating. In the above video Penn walks back from his previous statement without actually apologizing (kind of reminds me of steroid users who have been caught but won't tell us what they are ...

B.J. Penn surprised to find that people listen when he talks
Cage Writer — After B.J. Penn dropped his "I think GSP does steroids" bombshell on Yahoo! Sports' columnist Kevin Iole, Penn was surprised to find out that people would actually want to talk and write about what he had to say. In this apology video, Penn said he didn't think that Iole would have written so much about the steroid allegations. If that's true, this should be a lesson to all fighters. Don't say something to the media if you don't want it written about! This isn't the early days of the UFC any more. With increased media attention on the sport, the things that fighters say matters, especially if that fighter ...

BJ Penn Apologizes, Doesn’t Understand Journalism
TheScore.com Blog — Alright, so BJ Penn wants to “apologize to all parties involved”, saying how he doesn’t like how the Yahoo article where he accused Georges St. Pierre of doing steroids was presented, or that an article that came out just before he’s about to fight Kenny Florian would be 1/3 about his GSP accusation. Well, here’s a tip to avoid that in the future: don’t pull steroid accusations out of your ass when talking to the media. Mind you, he doesn’t back down from the statements per se, he’s just sorry for how it all got out there. He also says that he’s surprised that Yahoo’s ...
