Basketball Fever Strikes the DNC
From The Barn — Asking random political figures random basketball questions isn’t completely unheard of, but when Charles Barkley is injected into a discussion about tax policy, you have to wonder if there isn’t something else a little more newsworthy going on somewhere. After all, they only need to fill a 24 hour news cycle…

CHUCK AT THE DNC
Docksquad Sports — Unless you're living under a rock, or in a post-Olympic USA! USA! chanting coma, you know that this is a very big week for our country. With all due respect to Kobe and his Redeem Team brethren, this week belongs to Senator Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. This is a monumental moment as it will be the first time that an African American male is given a party's nomination for president. These conventions have been known to attract random celebrities in the past, and this week brought about the highly opinionated, never shy, original Dream Teamer and Round Mound of ...

YouTube of the Day: Charles Barkley at the DNC
Ball Don't Lie — Warning: Minus Sir Charles, this has nothing to do with the NBA or basketball. Feel free to skip it. On Tuesday, former NBA superstar Charles Barkley spoke with CNN about why he's at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, why he's voting for Barack Obama, and the possibility of one day running for the Governor of Alabama. As always, Chuck didn't pull many punches. Shifting focus: I'm from Canada and I can't stop watching CNN's DNC coverage. It's incredible. Wolf's FOX-like appetite for drama and negativity, John King's magic map, Roland Martin's dance moves, the funny ...

NBA Noise — Is it just me, or is Barack Obama getting his fair amount of love and support from the NBA and its fans? See the above image for example, which features Obama leaping over John McCain for a thunderous dunk. You may recognize this particular image if you are a USA basketball fan, because it is a pretty clear representation of the Vince Carter dunk where he literally jumps OVER the 7'2" Frederic Weis for in what I consider to be the greatest in-game dunk of all time. Is Obama poised to (metaphorically of course) do the same thing to McCain? Here are a couple of other recent instances: Here is an interview with Charles Barkley ...

How about a standing ovation for Ron Artest? Uh, I don't think so.
