2009 NBA D-League Slam Dunk Contest
Draft Express —
The NBA D-League held its annual slam dunk contest last Friday night in Phoenix, Arizona. The '09 incarnation brought us an epic battle between the Anaheim Arsenal's James White and the Tulsa 66ers' Keith Clark. You may remember James "Flight" White from his college days at Cincinnati, the high price paid for him on draft night, or his stint with the San Antonio Spurs in 2006-07. Clark, however, is not as well known. He decided to play in the D-League after being declared academically ineligible at Oklahoma. He is following the path of the Los Angeles Clippers' Mike Taylor and will be eligible for the 2009 NBA Draft -- which makes him of particular interest to us here ...

Ridiculous Upside —
DraftExpress has unveiled something called DX-Mo. I am impressed. Here are just a couple of the examples. Yes, there are more!
D-League Dunk Contest For The Ages
Brahsome - Care To Get Nice? —
Much ado was made about Nate Robinson and his kryptonite dunks to defeat super-Dwight, but the NBA Slam Dunk was amateur hour compared to the D-League edition between James White and Keith Clark. I witnessed James White get robbed in the McDonald’s High School Slam Dunk Contest in legendary Holiday Gymnasium at Broughton High School. His fellow Gator signee, David Lee, took home the crown, despite White’s mind blowing two-handed free throw line, with a shimmy around the head dunk.
White opened up this contest with his patented distance ...
The D-League Dunk Contest is better
Epic Carnival —
You know why the the D-League Dunk Contest is better? Because they actually, well, dunk, as opposed to try to create a sitcom out of each attempt. Witness James White and his dunk from the free throw line (not inside the line) with some flair... Brahsome ...

Day 37 of the NBA 2k9 Playoffs
Golden State Of Mind —
LeBron getting knocked out before the Finals? Looks likely. The Magic took a 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals with a 116-114 OT win over the Cavs.
RECAP: Cavaliers 114, Magic 116

Wow. Dwight Howard in OT was huge. 10 points plus some big defensive plays in the paint. They finally went to him in the post and he just ...
My Candidates for the 2010 NBA Dunk Contest
Dime Magazine —
81972795BC177_DAY16 Ever since the end of the 2009 NBA Dunk Contest many NBA fans have been chomping at the bit over the idea of LeBron James entering the dunk contest. What seemed like a lock last February, is now 50-50 at least that is what King James told USA Today .“I’m like 50-50 right now, I don’t know if you can get it back to the 80s and like in ‘98 when Vince (Carter) was in it. It was more about the dunks and less about what was going on around the dunks. We’ll see what happens.” I have never been an advocate for LeBron in the dunk contest. I feared that Lebron being in the contest would mean James would win no matter what dunks his competition pulled ...
Jimmy V. and Dmitri Tertyshny Links
The House That Glanville Built —
I've been so busy lately that Jimmy V. week snuck up on me this year. And since it's an incredibly worthy cause and because Jimmy V. was such a great man, I'd be remiss if I didn't post his speech from the 1993 ESPYs, the greatest speech of all time, something I plan on doing every year for as long as I do this: ...
