Did Jared Allen Cheap Shot Matt Schaub?
FanHouse —
Filed under: Texans, Vikings, AFC South, NFL Injuries, NFL Video An MRI this afternoon confirmed that Texans quarterback Matt Schaub has an injured MCL. Jay Glazer of FoxSports.com is reporting that it is an MCL tear, and Schaub will be out for at least four weeks and perhaps will be put on IR. Coach Gary Kubiak didn't get into any detail in his presser but suggests Schaub will be out 2 to 4 weeks. Backup Sage Rosenchappa Rosenfels will get the start, and he is likely to put up big numbers (and perhaps big ...

The Viking Age | A Blog For Minnesota Vikings Fans —
Jared Allen is being called a cheap-shot artist after going low on Texans quarterback Matt Schaub in the first half Sunday and injuring Schaub’s knee. Texans coach Gary Kubiak was asked about the whole thing on his radio show and this is what he said:
Obviously it’s illegal to go low on the quarterback and we have three plays that we’re going to turn into the league and we’ll wait to hear back. But he definitely was down there low and Matt took some tough shots.
Kubiak’s wrath likely became greater after he learned that Schaub suffered an injury ...
Schaub Injured in Vikings/Texans Game; Kubiak Proceeds to Whining
Daily Norseman —
That's the hit that, apparently, put Texans' quarterback Matt Schaub on the shelf for a month with an injury to his MCL. Kubiak was questioning the legality of the hits at his Monday press conference.
And yes, he's serious. It's not just you. . .it took me a few solid minutes to finally stop laughing as well.
It's pretty obvious that Allen, who had beaten Duane Brown like a drum, was trying to chase down Schaub, and Schaub was then pushed into Allen by defensive tackle Kevin Williams. It didn't even look like Allen saw it coming. If that's an ...

Video: Hypocritical Jared Allen Upset Over Cheap Shot by Gosder Cherilus
Larry Brown Sports —
Jared Allen is one of the dirtiest players in the NFL. I don’t need some SI players poll to tell me that — I can figure it out on my own. The guy’s got like three DUIs, he’s been suspended games because of it, and he’s been fined like 90 grand this year, mostly for dirty hits on quarterbacks. He got docked 50 large for taking out Matt Schaub’s knees, an injury that made Schaub miss about four games. He was fined 25 grand for his late hits on Aaron Rodgers. This guy’s a dirty, filthy, disgusting player who isn’t much of a sportsman on the field. But as soon as someone turns ...
AFTER FURTHER REVIEW...: Scanning the Schedule
Niners Nation —
Welcome to ‘After Further Review...’ where we treat any Frank Gore injury like a death in the family, where we believe every time Terrell Owens whines on the sidelines an angel gets its wings, and where we’re ready to bring you the odds, ends, and trends from this weekend's action in the NFL.
After an exciting Sunday, the playoff races have tightened up considerably. Suddenly, it’s that time of year when the picture comes into focus, and when you remember that down the stretch, a team’s most valuable player can sometimes be the NFL’s schedule-maker. With so many teams so close in the standings -- ...
Gosder Cherilus Avoids Fine After Taking Out Jared Allen's Knee
FanHouse —
by Matt Snyder Filed under: Lions, Vikings, NFC NorthCue up the Vikings fans' tears about how the league office hates them and is constantly conspiring against them, because Gosder Cherilus has not been fined for his cheap shot last Sunday on NFL Fine King, Jared "$90K" Allen. As Lions quarterback Daunte Culpepper fled the pocket, Allen pursued. Even though he was about 12-15 yards away from the would-be passer, Cherilus hopped up just enough from his spot on the turf to take out Allen's knees. It was a blatant cheap shot in my book, and I'm an unbiased fan -- hell, if ...
The Company You Keep Part 1
Battle Red Blog —
Since Week 17 of the 2008 NFL season, I have been concentrating on the changes necessary to take the Texans from mediocrity to our first ever winning season and playoff contention. Coaching fires/hires, draft speculation and free agent evaluation has taken up most of my free time (otherwise known as dead time at work). It dawned on me, however, that we can’t just concentrate on our team; we have to also concentrate on our surroundings.
As I stated before and as all of us know, the Texans have failed to record a winning season. Early bad decisions with both ...
A Rule For Jared?
Vikings Gab —
I read on scout.com that the NFL has found it necessary to clarify a rule which spurned a great deal of debate last season. The rule in question centers around defensive players lunging at the ball carrier from the ground.
This point (click links to see video examples) is best illustrated by taking a look at the play that resulted in a season ending injury to Tom Brady and also multiple hits from Jared Allen which included one that knocked quarterback Matt Schaub out for a few weeks.
That play was not the only one in which Allen received a great deal of criticism for lunging at quarterbacks from the ground. He ...

Juggernaut Index No. 1: The Houston Texans
Roto Arcade —
The Juggernaut Index is our annual ranking of NFL teams for fantasy
purposes. Repeat: FOR FANTASY PURPOSES. We're interested in yards and
points here. These ranks are astonishingly accurate and highly
collectible. Please enjoy them responsibly. 1. Houston Texans In their seven years of existence, the Texans have never finished above .500 and they've never made the playoffs. The last important thing they won was the top pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. This is not exactly one of the league's most decorated franchises. It can be argued (not well) that Houston's placement atop the 2009 Juggernaut Index ...
FIVE PRETTY AWESOME NFL CHEAP SHOTS

Amidst all these stupid Brady Quinn cheap shot talk, come on guys!
Even after Baltimore had punished Brady Quinn(notes), Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis got in one more vicious hit on Cleveland’s quarterback. Angered over Quinn’s questionable chop block on Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs following an interception, Lewis accused Quinn of a dirty play. “Heck yeah it was a cheap shot,” Lewis snapped after Baltimore rocked Cleveland 16-0. [Via Yahoo]
Come on Ray! You of all people shouldn’t be talking smack about cheap shots my man. In fact this very season you clocked one of your best friends. ...
