Joe Buck Admits He Rarely Watches Sports And Doesn't Enjoy Baseball Anymore
Published 7/2/2008 by Awful Announcing- (noreply@blogger.com) at Awful Announcing
I'm borderline furious this morning and not just because I have to mention Colin Cowherd. Joe Buck was on ESPN Radio this morning, and you can't make this stuff up, said he doesn't enjoy Baseball anymore and chooses to watch the Bachlorette over nightly Sports telecasts during the week. ...

Another Reason To Despise National Announcers
Published 7/2/2008 by Dave Doyle at The Mets Report
I’ll tell you where I’m coming from on the issue of national announcers right off the bat. I can’t stand when Fox or ESPN blow into town for one game to cover the Mets on a national TV game. It’s terrible… The Mets have one of the best, if not THE best, broadcast crews around with SNY. They are invested in the Mets and know exactly what they’re talking about. So anything else is a major drop off. When the national guys come to town, whether it’s Fox or ESPN, the announcers are constantly trying to prove that they know what’s going on with the team by throwing out tidbits that their producers put in their ...

Joe Buck Prefers the Bachelorette to Baseball and Does Not Really Enjoy Calling Games
Published 7/2/2008 by Will Brinson at FanHouse
Filed under: MLB Media Watch, MLB VideoI knew there was a reason why I have always been so down on Joe Buck, and now, after hearing him talk to Colin Cowherd today (via Awful Announcing), I no longer have to blame it on: "works and apparently enjoys the company of Tim McCarver." As you will hear on the following clip, Joe got on the horn with The Herd and basically said that he does not even really pay attention to the games he covers anymore (1:30) and that he, as a professional sports announcer, prefers the Bachelorette to Major League Baseball games on a normal evening ...

Even Joe Buck doesn’t like baseball anymore
Published 7/2/2008 by houroc at SportFiends
It’s no secret that America’s interest in baseball has diminished a lot since the turn of the century. There are a lot of factors that go into this including the length of the games, the amount of games and of course the fact that all the best players out there either have used or have been accused of using steroids. People don’t know whether the games they are watching are legit or not. That being said, I can’t understand this. In this video I found via Awful Announcing, everyone’s former favorite baseball announcer sounds off about how he doesn’t watch baseball ...

Joe Buck Doesn’t Watch Much Sports
Published 7/2/2008 by Keith at Sports Media Journal
From the “You must be kidding me” department… Take a listen to this short clip from Fox’ Joe Buck on the Colin Cowherd radio show today on ESPN Radio. For a guy who makes a living as a sports commentator, shouldn’t one of his tasks be to watch as much sports as possible? It’s his job for crying out loud! I agree with both men that, for normal people, their lives prevent them from watching much sports during the week. But for you guys watching sports IS part of your job! Buck is also right about the pace of a baseball game and the time required to watch it. It does take away a little from the enjoyment of the game. You can blame television and some of the prima donna ...

Video Picks: Rays Nation, Painful Baseball Injuries, Joe Buck, Baron Davis
Published 7/2/2008 by Anthony Hall at MVN Outsider
There’s a new sheriff in town in the AL East. I tell ya, Tampa Bay fans are getting a wee bit cocky about their squad’s lead over Boston in the division; as you’ll see, someone called “The Cowbell Kid” declared Red Sox Nation to be dead at a recent Rays game: This is all a little difficult to comprehend: The Rays have…fans? Tropicana Field is…packed? People in Tampa are feeling…excited about the Rays? Tampa is…leading the AL East race? In other baseball news, FanIQ points us to one of the most horrific injuries I’ve ever seen ...

Joe Buck Is Just No Longer Enthused About America's Pastime [Joe Buck]
Published 7/2/2008 by DAULERIO at Deadspin
Joe "Balls Deep" Buck is one of the most highly respected and high-profile sports announcers working today and, according to one plucky Midwesterner we all know, is also a true gentlemen when introduced to raisin-filled sports bloggers. Buck's voice is always a welcome addition, especially to baseball ...

Joe Buck should be removed from MLB broadcasts yesterday
Published 7/2/2008 by 'Duk at Big League Stew
Let me start by saying I don't like Joe Buck. In fact, I've never liked Joe Buck. When I watch Saturday afternoon baseball or the playoffs on Fox, it takes everything in my power to stop from hitting the mute button. He doesn't add anything to my enjoyment of the game and, more often than not, his refusal to never shut up and let the game breathe a little bit makes for the equivalent of a drill-bit being bored into my head for more than three hours at a clip. You can disagree with me if you want, but I believe that if it weren't for who his father was, Joe Buck and his droning, monotone, haughty and easily-outraged-by-Randy Moss style would be ...

The Ennui Of Joe Buck
Published 7/2/2008 by GC at Can't Stop The Bleeding
FOX’s national voice for Baseball openly admitted to not enjoying the game he covers, cramming for weekend matchups, thinking that the games are too long and that the game just isn’t the same. Unbelievable. You’re getting paid millions of dollars for watching a game three hours. Cry me a river! What’s even worse than that was the fact that he was on for another 4 or 5 minutes talking about a Cubs-Red Sox World Series. Are you kidding me?! - Awful Announcing, 7/02/08 Indeed, it’s inexcusable.  Buck should represent Fox Sports by building interest for a Cardinals-Red Sox World ...

Why is Joe Buck still calling baseball games?
Published 7/2/2008 by Gilbert at Obscure Sports Quarterly
Joe Buck went on the Colin Cowherd show today and said some things you wouldn’t expect baseball’s most prominent and baseball announcer to say. Buck said he barely watches any sports during the week and baseball is not as special or unique as it used to be. During the whole interview he sounded very down and unenthusiastic about baseball, ...

There was one thing I liked about my Milwaukee Brewers 2007 Choke Job
Published 7/2/2008 by Andrew (noreply@blogger.com) at The Grand National Championships
I have a vow never to listen to Joe Buck and Tim McCarver. I play fast and loose with my vows, I'll admit it. But this one has stuck. I will never listen to them broadcast a baseball game ever again. And with my local sports team about to make it to the playoffs? I was going to have to break the vow. But then the Cubs got in the way. And I've never properly thanked them for it. Thanks. Why the backstory? Because Joe Buck was on ESPN Radio today, and he said, we'll let's go to the SOT. ...

Game 85: Another crappy righty we’ve never seen
Published 7/2/2008 by Joseph P. at River Ave. Blues
Many teams have rocked Luis Mendoza this year. The Yankees have, in theory, a powerhouse offense. So can we please just knock this guy around? I don’t think it’s asking too much. MLB.com has a a piece on Talib Kweli, a life-long Yankees fan. Says the emcee: “I collected every baseball card, I had season tickets to Yankee Stadium, but baseball is a great metaphor for life.” I loved his stuff with Mos Def in Black Star. To keep the game thread filled with randomness, here’s evidence that Joe Buck should no longer be calling baseball games: ...

Joe Buck: Even A Bigger Douche Than We Thought
Published 7/3/2008 by Matt Clapp (noreply@blogger.com) at Sharapova's Thigh
Not only is Joe Buck an arrogant prick, he doesn't even watch sports. That's something nice for the main announcer for, ya know, the World Series on Fox, or the Super Bowl when it's on Fox. He talked about his lack of sports viewing on ESPN Radio today , and how he'd rather watch The Bachleorette :

Joe Buck Admits He Barely Watches Sports, Doesn’t Enjoy Baseball Anymore
Published 7/3/2008 by Larry Brown at Larry Brown Sports
Maybe this explains why some baseball telecasts aren’t too enjoyable (putting aside what happens on the field). When FOX’s top national play-by-play man says he barely watches sports and doesn’t really enjoy baseball anymore, you know we have a problem. Listen to his conversation with Colin Cowherd on ESPN Radio. It’s no coincidence that some announcers are better than others, or that some telecasts are more enjoyable than others. When the announcers are excited about their team or the game, it comes out in the broadcast. When they could care less, ...

I Strongly Dislike Joe Buck
Published 7/3/2008 by Sooze (noreply@blogger.com) at Babes Love Baseball
I try not to use the word 'hate' very often. It's like 'love' that way. The more you use it, the faster it loses its meaning. However, when describing the way Joe Buck makes me feel when I watch a FOX Sporting event, the word 'hate' does come to mind... along with classics like 'hurl', 'shut up' and 'bitch-slap'. In any case, another guy that makes me feel this awesome is Colin Cowherd. *shudder* Just watch the video, via Awful Announcing, always looking out. ...
