fastbreakblog +1Billy Martin is smiling. Good one. -
ethanator1088 You know that the Yanks are not doing too good, when this is the most exciting video the Pinstripes have put out in a good while.

Ben Q. Rock Nice to see Joe get hot under the collar. Fantastic move. He had a point, too. Even if the ball did carom off Giambi's bat, there's no excuse for Guccione to wait so long to make the call. The fact that he appeared to consider the catcher's argument before making the call just makes it look that much worse.
Man, does it ever suck to look up in the standings to see Tampa Bay.

StillKickin Glad to see Joe fighting for his team. poster Ben Q. Rock was right about the call too. The ghost of Billy Martin is smiling.............

Melky, Andy two Yanks “riding high in April, shot down in May.”
Melky Cabrera is down to .248. His March/April numbers? .299-5-12. .190-1-7 in May.
Andy Pettitte was 3-3, 3.93 entering May. 0-2, 5.51 this month.
Jose Molina was .231 (not great, but respectable)-0-2 entering May. .152-0-1 this month.
Johnny Damon was .276-3-12 entering May, .227-2-7 this month.
Hey, a barbershop quartet!
We can’t count the injured A-Rod and Posada. Matsui hasn’t been bad in May, but he has cooled off himself. Entering May: .322-4-13; in May .262-2-7.

G-MAN GETS TOSSED BILLY/LOU STYLE
Published 5/23/2008 by Mike (noreply@blogger.com) at New York Yankees Update
Congratulations to Joe Girardi on his first ejection as Yankees manager. He put on a good show. He had a little Billy with a touch of Lou. The only thing I saw wrong with what Joe did was that he didn't come out with his hat on sideways. Ken Singleton nailed it though. It's not seen on this video clip but Singleton pointed out that the ump didn't call it until the catcher said something. Watch it again and closely watch the catcher and the ump. Here is Joe getting the big ...
Yankees vs. Orioles; 5/23/08
Published 5/23/2008 by James at YanksBlog.com
Well, that was an entertaining...but nerve-racking game to watch. Long and short of it, the Yankees won 2-1 on a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth off the bat of Robbie Cano. We'll get to that in a second though. The bigger story of the night was probably the pitching of IPK, or rather the results of it. He threw 6 innings of one-run ball, giving up four hits and four walks while striking out four. Those walks scare me but let's be serious, this was easily the best start of the season for him. Still, while he worked his way out of a few jams (getting key Ks when he needed them), one or two more hits would have made this a ...
Joe Girardi Ejected for Blowing Up At Home Plate Umpire
Published 5/23/2008 at FanIQ Blog
The Yankees are in last place in the AL East, having lost six out of their last eight while playing what could best be described as uninspiring baseball.
What's a manager to do?
Some threaten a big lineup shakeup through the media, others actually follow through with it and hope to change the mojo. Then there's the Billy Martin and Lou Piniella school of managing: completely loose your head, kick some dirt, throw your hat and put on a big show for your team and fans.
After the home plate ump decided that the base of Jason Giambi's bat tipped a pitch, ...

JOE GIRARDI POLITELY DISAGREES
Published 5/23/2008 at With Leather - Sports news and gossip for your impressionable young children
During the ninth inning of last night's Orioles-Yankees game, New York manager Joe Girardi disagreed with the called third strike on Jason Giambi, quite possibly the first iffy call in history to go against the Yankees in Yankee Stadium. What followed was the ol'-fashioned yell-stomp-throw-kick leading to an ejection (and soon after, a game-winning rally) -- and the home crowd went bonkers for it. Other things the home crowd loves: Derek Jeter, chinstrap beards, and calling people "faggot." [Sliding into Home via Sporting Blog]

Video of Joe Girardi Getting Ejected
Published 5/24/2008 by Stephen Kersey at Knuckle Curve - Baseball News
While the New York Yankees aren’t winning many games this season, at least their manager is doing a good job getting ejected. I give Girardi a B+ for his eruption that led to his ejection against the Baltimore Orioles. You can see a video of the ejected Joe Girardi at the end of this entry.
Not everything is fun and games for the Yankees right now. In fact, the last place Yankees could be in real trouble. While they got off to a slow start last year as well, the Yankees can count on another second half push — especially with Joe Torre in Los Angeles.
How can the Yankees solve their woes? Here are the ...
