The Greatest Defensive Play By A Pitcher Ever?
Bugs & Cranks —
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2p6wmcev7U
Two days later and I’m still in awe. On Thursday night Joel Pineiro had one of the most miraculous defensive plays I’ve ever seen performed by a pitcher. One of the revamped arms the Cardinals were counting on to bolster a patchwork rotation, Pineiro got off to a ...

JOEL PINEIRO'S FIRST-EVER HIGHLIGHT
With Leather - Sports news and gossip, panda sex, and the occasional Toonces the driving cat Photoshop —
As a Mariners fan, I tolerated Joel Piñeiro's mediocrity for years, and I was never once rewarded with him doing something as cool as this play. I guess crappy ex-Mariners just get cooler when they move to St. Louis and play for the Cardinals. Like Scott Spiezio. I would have been much happier if he drank himself out of the league before hitting .215 for the M's. And that was his good season with Seattle. In conclusion, Spiezio sucks. And I wish Pineirio well... in that I don't wish him any specific harm. [Hot ...
Joel Piñeiro Kick Save, and A BEAUTY
FanIQ Blog —
I was too busy trying to figure out the Bears draft plan over the weekend - 12 picks, 0 QB's - that I missed this absurd play by Joel Piñeiro on Thursday night.
Reed Johnson made a spectacular catch on Friday night, and clearly I'm partial the Cubs, but I give the nod to the Cardinals pitcher for play of the year thus far.
KICK SAVE! And a BEAUTY!
There was a rumor that the Colorado Avalanche had been inquiring about his services, but it's a little too late now.
Honorable mention play of the year: Nick Swisher breaking ...

Pineiro Back on Track? —
The Gas House Gang
Joel Pineiro bounced back from rough outings in his first two starts of the year to help lead the Cardinals to a 6-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates and salvage a split in their short series.

C70 At The Bat
When you are faltering, even the teams that you should beat wind up beating you. Which doesn't really bode well for the future of this team. Four runs is nice, but you'd like to see more than that when all four score in the first inning. You knew that Wellemeyer was playing with fire last night. The first seven outs were in the air, and that's just asking for trouble in a ...

Pre-Game Thoughts
Joel Pineiro was once a promising prospect. He had won 37 games before he turned 25. He was won just 28 over the last four seasons. He has had some control issues and some elbow trouble in his past. Coming off an injury, this year he is 0-2 in two starts with no strikeouts and an 8.10 ERA in 10 IP.
Both times he faced ...
Cardinals Pineiro baffles Reds, 7-2 —
L.A. Times - Baseball News
ST. LOUIS -- Joel Pineiro (2-2) ended with seven innings of one-hit ball, letting his defense take care of several hard-hit shots, and the St. Louis Cardinals jumped on Cincinnati Reds rookie Johnny Cueto (1-3) early in a 7-2 victory Tuesday night.
