Referee Joey Crawford gets revenge against Spurs
johnnyhair posted 5/28/2008 from www.tireball.com
Brent Barry scored 23 of the San Antonio Spurs 81 points but it missed a critical three pointer at the end of the fourth quarter a mist being fouled by Derrick Fisher. Referee Joey Crawford ruled it was a no call. The result was the Spurs dropping a crucial game 4 to the Los Angeles Lakers and the no call on the foul will undoubtedly lead to speculation that Crawford was seeking revenge ...Who's worse: Joey Crawford or TNT's commentators?

WCBias.com throws them all under the bus with this commentary about the end of the Spurs-Lakers game Tuesday. Crawford blew it with the no call on a clear foul by Fisher. TNT blew it by saying: 1. The Crawford-Spurs rift isn't a story before the game. 2. By not realizing the L.A. shot clock hadn't reset late. 3. And by failing to say if the Spurs were in the bonus on the final possession.According to “The Code,” No-Call Was the Right Call

From Ted M. Green over at SportsHubLA. "I don’t have to turn on the three or four letter cable networks today to know they they’re all still blabbing and babbling about the end of Game 4…Lakers up two, Derek Fisher fouling Brent Barry but Joey Crawford manning up with the non-call."

The Los Angeles Lakers are up 3-1 after a very controversial call Tuesday night in San Antonio at the end of game 4. Joey Crawford, the referee (whom I think is one of the best refs around in any sport) made the call that Brent Barry was not fouled by Derek Fisher, and the game ended [...]Lakers Blow The Final Whistle

Now, I know the league doesn't want the ratings-sucking Spurs in the finals, but, um, folks.....Spurs are at home. Fisher lands right on Brent Barry. And Joey Crawford (who once challenged Tim Duncan to a fight) is the senior referee on a crew that looked on with their whistles somewhere in their pants pockets??? How can Joey Crawford be allowed to do a Spurs game? I mean, come on. He ...Ballin: Lakers 93, Spurs 91

Yes, D Fish fouled Brent Barry with less than two seconds remaining. No question. But as Barry, Pop, Fisher and Kobe said - you can’t call that . Go ahead and conjure up some Joey Crawford conspiracy , or talk about how uneven the game was refereed - the Spurs went to the line 26 times in the first three quarters, and then zero in the fourth; Kobe ( 28 points ) didn’t attempt one ...Yes, That Was a Foul

Leave it to Henry Abbott for the early and definitive word on last night's game-/series-/league-changing non-call by Joey Crawford on that Barry 3 over Fisher. For those of us who think the NBA is ever-so-slightly rigged (but only when the possibility presents itself), this was "Exhibit A" fodder. The NBA's original sin was having Joey Crawford ref this game, knowing his history with the ...
