Johnny Quest Thinks Rick Reilly Is A Sellout
Published 5/10/2008 by Losloseeboy at Tirico Suave
Fucking sue me, I listened to Less Than Jake back in ‘01. But the song really says it all. As we all know, Ricky took a deal from ESPN that offers a “ridonkulous” salary, which is roughly $2 million a year. Well, we knew that Ricky bashed ESPN in an interview with GELF magazine. But check out the video below. It is an interview with Ricky at Point Loma Nazarene University back on Feb. 24, 2004. He basically says that “real journalism” can’t be practiced at ESPN because they are in bed with the various professional leagues. Have fun deep-throating Goodell, Ricky. Reilly starts producing faux-journalism at the WWL in June. The ...

What Rick Reilly Used to Think About ESPN
Published 5/12/2008 by TheBigLead at The Big Lead
As we near the much-anticipated June debut of Rick Reilly’s work at ESPN, Tirico Suave brings us this video from 2004 in which Reilly, then a globe-trotting columnist at Sports Illustrated, said the following about the WWL: “[ESPN] is in a lot of ways conducting journalism-by-rolodex … they’re in bed with all these leagues … ESPN really can’t give you the hard-nosed story about MLB … ESPN can’t break a negative NFL story because they want the [TV] contract for the next year … same with the NBA - they’re in bed with the NBA.” ...

It's Amazing How Quickly Money Will Make You Change Your Mind
Published 5/12/2008 by Awful Announcing- (noreply@blogger.com) at Awful Announcing
Tirico Suave has a great video today of one of ESPN's newest employees Rick Reilly explaining what he thought about the network back in 2004 and it couldn't be more telling about Reilly's motives these days..... The countdown is on for Reilly's debut at ESPN, and there hasn't been a debut I've dreaded more in my entire Sports' life. It's amazing how money solves most issues people seem to have, and how quickly their tune changes. Stupid sellouts (loved the Less Than Jake that accompanied that video btw). Johnny Quest Thinks Rick Reilly Is A Sellout (Tirico ...

Does Rick Reilly Have Integrity? You Be The Judge
Published 5/12/2008 by Brooks at SPORTSbyBROOKS
TIRICO SUAVE is the source of this video of Rick Reilly in 2004: Apparently Mr. Reilly had two million reasons (per 12 mos.) to change his mind about ESPN.

Rick Reilly Bashes ESPN
Published 5/12/2008 at FanIQ Blog
This is quite a video put together by the boys at Tirico Sauve. It's Rick Reilly in 2004 giving us his opinion on ESPN at Point Loma Nazarene University. Reilly's anything but kind to The Leader. HOWEVER, this is what Reilly said in late 2007 when he decided to leave SI and accept a $2 million a year job with ESPN. "This is an itch I've wanted to scratch for a long time. For a guy who loves sports, ESPN is the ultimate. I feel like a mouse locked in a cheese store. I don't know where to start first. I'm thrilled with the opportunity to speak to a whole ...

Before He Worked There, Rick Reilly Thought ESPN Was in Bed With Sports Leagues
Published 5/12/2008 by Michael David Smith at FanHouse
Filed under: ESPNAfter a long career at Sports Illustrated, Rick Reilly is about to start working for ESPN. But Reilly hasn't always thought highly of the Worldwide Leader, as he expressed in this 2004 interview: "ESPN, I think, in a lot of ways is conducting journalism-by-rolodex," Reilly said. "It's like, 'Hey, we know these guys. We party with these guys.' It's been my complaint about a lot of televised journalism, which rules the roost now, is that they're in bed with all these leagues. So ESPN can't really give you the hard-nosed story about Major League Baseball. And they ...
