Jonathan Papelbon does not speak Spanish very well
Published 2/25/2008 at Big League Stew
Pity the poor marketing soul who was put in charge of getting Jonathan Papelbon to record this public service announcement in Spanish. Couldn't they have gotten David Ortiz or Manny Ramirez instead? At least Papelbon gives it his best despite a limited knowledge of the language. Reminds me of the college friend who dropped Spanish I because it was a five-day a week class. The problem wasn't so much with the frequency as much as the fact he didn't own five different shirts and wanted to avoid doing laundry as much as possible. Come to think of it, he also liked ...

'Duk at Y!'s Big League Stew shows us video that proves "Jonathan Papelbon does not speak Spanish very well." What is painfully obvious as Paps smears the language is that he never attended the Jose Reyes Spanish Academy. ...

Hola.
Mi nombre es Jonathan Papelbon.
Bienvenido a Fenway.
Espero que disfrute el partido.
Doesn't sound that hard to say, right? Even a little basic high school Spanish will get you through those few lines. But not if you're Jonathan Papelbon...
Jonathan Papelbon's Spanish Needs Some Work
Published 2/26/2008 by PostmanR at FanHouse
Filed under: Boston, Red Sox, AL East, MLB Video If there's one thing we've learned about Jonathan Papelbon in his young career --besides his pitching, the kid can pitch -- it's that he's a goofball. This is not necessarily a bad thing. (Although it does seem to polarize the baseball fan base. You either find him annoying or you find his antics rather endearing. I fall somewhere in the middle.) So it is within the spirit of the Irish jig, the Letterman appearance and the QVC shilling that I present Papelbon's attempt at filming a ...

Have no fear, folks: If you worried that Jonathan Papelbon was going to get serious on you this year, we can put that one to rest. Why? ¡Tu jugadore de beisbol loco es aqui! From the Cape Cod Times' Capecast via Big League Stew : The bike horn? Excellent touch. The red socks and flip flops? Excellent fashion sense. The espanol? ¡Dios mio!

Here’s a surprise. Some guy from the South can’t speak Spanish. That guy is Jonathan Papelbon — shattering unfair perceptions about Southerners one day at a time.

Jonathan “The Polyglot” Papelbon

My Spanish is a little rusty, but in this public service announcement, I believe Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon is explaining what happened to that infamous World Series ball. Either that or he’s welcoming Spanish speakers to Fenway Park, telling them to enjoy the game, and asking them not to feed Bartolo Colon.
In the background, I believe we hear David Ortiz calling Papelbon a dumb female dog. ...
Jonathan Papelbon Loves Him Some El Pollo Loco
Published 2/26/2008 by Brooks at SPORTSbyBROOKS
Living in Los Angeles and Miami, we know all about struggling to speak our beloved Espanol. But we’re just about at George W. Bush -levels after going hungry following futile drive-thru visits to El Pollo Loco (L.A.) and El Pollo Tropical (Miami). That also apparently applies to those of you in Massachusetts. Take for instance Edward Kennedy , who delivers an appropriate salute to the esteemed makers of that precious nectar derived from the Blue Agave plant. And then there’s Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon at Spring Training this season. (video via WICKED GOOD SPORTS ) We’d like to congratulate Papelbon on the beautiful ...

JONATHAN PAPELBON IS WICKED SMAHT
Published 2/26/2008 at With Leather - Sports news and gossip to brighten this short, dark life
Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon always comes across as a 15-year-old goof-off trapped in the body of a big league pitcher, so I guess it's no surprise that he can't read two sentences in Spanish without fucking up and channeling Chris Farley. Thanks for this video goes to the Cape Cod Times, who must have spent weeks putting together the 25 seconds of credits for a 55-second video. [Red Sox Monster via Big League Stew]

LOZOBALL 2008: MID-DRAFT UPDATE
Published 3/13/2008 by ERNEST RILES at SPORTS UNFILTERED
We're halfway through the longest draft in fantasy baseball history. The Lozoball draft started on February 8th. Thirty-four days, one massive clusterfuck, one new commissioner, and 15 rounds later, we're a little bit past the halfway point, and we figured it was time for us to let you know how we're doing (and why we're dong what we're doing). As always, the following post is steeped in the most pertinent factual data, rich with insight, and 100% objective. I (Ernest Riles) broke down the odd numbered picks, and AE evaluated our even numbered picks. #1) Jonathan Papelbon, RP, Red Sox- We drafted the ...
POLANCO SENDS PAPELBON CRYING
Published 5/8/2008 by World of Isaac (noreply@blogger.com) at The World of Isaac
I think we can all agree that Jonathon Papelbon is a douche. From his stupid Riverdance to his lame attempt at Spanish. Good to see Polanco shut his mouth off for at least one night. The World of Isaac is 2-0 in Detroit games attended this week. Maybe the Red Wings need my luck tonight?
