Pap to Rays: 'Payback is a bitch'
Published 6/12/2008 at Extra Bases
In his weekly appearance on Comcast SportsNet yesterday, Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon said the Sox feud with the Rays is not over yet. "Obviously as you can see it's a war when we go play those guys," Papelbon said on the Sox rivalry with the Rays. “In my opinion it is a bunch of bull what they did," said Papelbon. "All I got to say is what comes around goes around. Payback is a bitch. In my opinion, and the way I feel right now, this thing isn’t all settled and done. We still got to play them a few more times and I know when we go into Tropicana things will be a little ...

Fight Night: It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over

Jonathan Papelbon is not a big fan of the Rays - and he has a long memory. Don't think he's letting go of what happened last week. In his weekly chat on Comcast, he was asked about Jonny Gomes and Carl Crawford jumping in to sucker-punch Coco: ...

Papelbon Respects Devil Rays, Threatens Payback
Published 6/13/2008 by David Chalk at Bugs & Cranks
Thursday, Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon taped a weekly interview with Comcast SportsNet — perhaps it was his first chance to speak about last Thursday’s brawl, but it’s interesting that he spent the vast majority of his time talking about our Devil Rays and what will happen the next time we meet …. 17 days from now. Here’s the video: Obviously, the big quote is “Payback is a bitch,” but there’s a lot of other interesting bits in there. The Devil Ray talk starts off very respectful — Papelbon says he’s not surprised at all that ...

Jonathan Papelbon gets one more kick in on the Rays

Here it is a week later, and people are still talking about the Red Sox-Rays brawl . And why not? Even typically lovable oaf Jonathan Papelbon is making it perfectly clear the animosity between the two teams isn't going away: "Payback's a bitch." Yeah, pretty much any time you pull that line out, somebody will probably be eating a fastball sandwich to the dome piece at some point this season. Like the Short Round said, "Hold on to your potatoes, Docta Jones!"

Fenway West has a video interview with Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon. In standard Paps fashion he speaks his mind and states that "the way [he] feels right now, this thing isn't all settled and done." Here's the full interview.

Jonathan Papelbon: Thing With Rays Isn't All Settled and Done
Published 6/13/2008 by Josh Alper at FanHouse
Filed under: Boston, Red Sox, Rays, MLB Video, Tampa BayJonathan Papelbon made an appearance on a Boston cable channel this week and, after a little goading from the hosts, stoked the flames of the Red Sox-Rays rivalry. It comes about 90 seconds into the video, which is courtesy of Extra Bases. I find it strange that the Red Sox are so upset about this. They beat the Rays in all three games and it was their player, Coco Crisp, who started the fight. After all the arguing the night before about plays involving him, any player of Crisp's experience should know that ...

Brog: All The Big Macs I Want, Thanks To Laila Ali!

In my drive from Miami to Los Angeles, I’m not even halfway home yet, as I come to you today from lovely Lake Charles, Louisiana. I’m hoping to make it to El Paso tonight, if I can effectively steer clear of the thousands of Taco Cabanas and Whataburgers that I”ll encounter along the way. Being on the road, you never realize how much you miss tomatoes until you eat fast food every meal. If the Mexicans start pooping in liquid cheese too, I’ll soon be shorting Taco Bell stock. Also on the subject of fast food, I live mostly now on the west coast, so Hardees is off my radar screen. But it seems every other billboard driving through the South pimps ...

Francona’s Pissed At Papelbon
Published 6/13/2008 by Ian at SOX & Dawgs
You may remember back to yesterday when I posted this video of Boston Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon during his weekly television spot on Comcast SportsNet New England in which basically Cinco Ocho said “payback’s a bitch” about the incident last week with the Tampa Bay Rays. Terry Francona was a little pissed about this and spoke to Papelbon right after he was talking to the assembled media about it. “I’ll speak to him,” sighed Francona when the topic was brought up. “We don’t need to go there. I’ll talk to him.” ...

Tampa Bay Rays: Best Team in Baseball (as of now)
Published 6/30/2008 by Dan Dumont at On Deck Sports Blog
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, fans around the world, mark this day on your calendars, Monday, June 30, 2008, the last day of the month of June and the Tampa Bay Rays are the best team in Major League Baseball. You heard correct…with their 49-32 record, and .605 win percentage, the Rays not only have the best record in the AL East, they have the best record in baseball. To be a winning team, you must dominate at home while maintaining .500 on the road. The Rays are 30-13 at Tropicana Field and 19-19 on the road, certainly a recipe for success. Honestly, would anybody ever believe that the Rays would one day be the best team in baseball? Maybe ...

Jonathan Papelbon gained some big media coverage with his comments earlier in the week about the Ray's incident saying the issue was not done. This did not please Terry Francona who said, "We don't need to go there" to the press before the game. He also said he was going to have a chat with Paps. Yesterday Papelbon decided to throw some more gas on the fire by bringing the subject up to ...
Pap speaks out; Another Game 4 classic?
While most of the Red Sox have been tight-lipped regarding their feelings about the Tampa Bay Rays since the bench-clearing brawl a week ago, Jonathan Papelbon did not hold back while doing his weekly interview with Comcast SportsNet's Mohegan Sun Sports Tonight. The station was kind enough to send along a transcript of Pap's comments that appeared on their airwaves. On the Sox-Rays fight... ...
