It also acted as assurance that the African country is capable of hosting the 2010 World Cup and the 2009 Confederations Cup, as all three matches played by the Red Devils attracted record attendances. Sir Alex Ferguson brought a squad made up of experienced players, young first-team stars, and backup youngsters which were given the opportunity to shine.
