With ESPN2 Coming To Town This Weekend, KU Is Rethinking Some Of Its Football Chants
Published 10/9/2008 by Awful Announcing- (noreply@blogger.com) at Awful Announcing
I'm not sure how Kansas Football fans started the chant, "Rip His F'ing Head Off!" (taken from the movie Waterboy), but it's safe to say that they're rethinking it now that ESPN's cameras are coming to town. KU's student paper, Daily Kansan, is spearheading a plan to get the chant banned and so far it's been met with mixed reviews. From the KC Star via Wiz of Odds.... Ever since the chant began years ago — based off a line from the 1998 Adam Sandler comedy, “The Waterboy” — Leddy’s has been the prevailing logic. But this week, Vineyard and the rest of the KU students are going to hear a different message about the ...
Mangino Will Not Tolerate Your Rob Schneider Movie Quotes [College Football]
Published 10/9/2008 by Rick Chandler at Deadspin
We turn now to the University of Kansas, where the struggle between Mark Mangino and Rob Schneider for the very soul of the Jayhawk football program has reached a tipping point. Kansas students have just received a mass email from student leaders which features a video of Mangino himself asking — nay, demanding — that an obscene chant be discontinued at this Saturday's game against Colorado. (Email shown following the jump). ESPN2 is broadcasting the game, after all, so we can't have nasty shenanigans. I talked with University Daily Kansan managing editor Matt Erickson and sports editor Rustin Dodd to get the full poop. At the heart of the ...
Rob Schneider Quotes Make Mangino Angry

Filed under: Kansas, Big 12, NCAA FB Fans, General CFB InsanityAnd when Mark Mangino gets angry, Mr. Bigglesworth gets upset. And when Mr. Bigglesworth gets upset, the big guy makes a video demanding that you stop quoting Rob Schneider. At the heart of the problem is a chant that has been going on at Kansas home games during kickoffs over the past couple years. The NSFW video below is a demonstration of the quote of Rob Schneider's character in The Waterboy. No one will argue that this kickoff chant is in bad taste and should probably stop. But like I said ...
BOTC Focus Group: KU Sucks Edition
Published 19 days ago by Panjandrum at Bring On The Cats
It's Sunflower Showdown week here at BOTC, so this week's Focus Group will probably take a bit of a harder edge as we prepare to see K-State take on that team we loathe down the river. As always, feel free to participate in the comments.
This week's questions!
1. Because it's Sunflower Showdown week, tell the world when it was that you knew you'd be a K-State fan for life.
2. Hypothetical time: K-State beats KU this weekend, then loses all its games the rest of the season to go 5-7. What is the coaching staff's fate in this scenario?
3. The weekend's Big 12 schedule ...
The New York Times Liked Aussie Rules Better
Published 4 days ago by Dave at Dave's Football Blog
There’s been a lot of focus this year on violence in the NFL — hard hits, horrific injuries, past players looking for ways to prevent future concussions, bounties on players, new rules that may or may not be “pansying up” the game, and so on.
It’s all quite absurd, really. Those who prattle on about the violence of the gridiron game seem to forget that it is violence. It’s a brutal tactical war game that requires players to collide into each other at the fastest possible speed to stop an opponent — something players learn at a very young age. ...
