zimman +2Lighten-up world. So the lady made a wrong choice of words. Maybe she should have said 'tie him up'; or, something to that extent. You all know darned well that there was nothing significant meant by her comment/choice of words. If it had been any other player, no one would even had noticed. Mr. Woods, himself, has said no offense taken. At least he has his head screwed on straight; unlike so many other people in this country.-
Kendallweaver Ditto. Geez.... Like any reasonable person could think sweet Kelly Tilghman meant something racist. Not a chance.. she's a class act. And the Golf Channel has shown Really poor judgement in suspending her! -
swaynesworld I hear you Zimman, this shouldn't be made more of than what it is. But if America, assuming that's the "country" you're speaking of didn't "lighten up" back in the sixties many of my African American fathers and their fathers would still be subject to lynching. Zimman its Ok until it happens in your family. Kelly just reminded us that some aren't nearly as sensitive to our not too distant past as some who posess a "backyard" with a history of lynchings, slavery, racism etc. I forgive Kelly 100% but I know the history of this country has at its foundation the oppression of a particular people group that many still view as sub-human.

oneblaquewoman WOW!!! What a world we live in... Where jokes on murder should be excused and dismissed... but NOT jokes on sexuality and character. When Isaiah said "fagot" he was fired. When Don said "nappy head hoe" he was fired.
God bless America!

Golf Channel Announcer Says Something Very Wrong
Published 1/9/2008 at The Sporting Blog
By Spencer Hall.
In all the furor over the national title game, I missed something really rare: an interesting golf story. The Golf Channel's Laura Tilghman, an analyst and onair personality, suggested the following solution for Tiger Woods dominating golf and keeping other, younger golfers from seeing daylight: that they should"lynch Tiger Woods in a back alley."
Tilghman has apologized, and Woods' agent says it's no big deal, but when mentioning the use of violence against a golfer, make sure you don't attach the word "lynch" to a situation involving a golfer of ...
Kelly Tilghman Says Other Golfers Should "Lynch Tiger Woods In A Back Alley"

If you had Kelly Tilghman in your "First Female Member of Augusta Pool," go ahead and pat yourself on the back.
Golf Channel's Tilghman, who's the first full-time female play-by-play broadcaster in the history of the PGA Tour, opted for a poor choice of words during coverage of the tour's opening event. She channeled her inner Fuzzy Zoeller and suggested that today's young players "lynch Tiger Woods in a back alley." Juuuust a bit outside.
Fortunately for her, Tiger Woods considers Kelly a good friend and sees the comment as a "non-issue." ...
The Kelly Tilghman Video
Published 1/9/2008 by Chris at Intentional Foul
In case you’ve missed it, Golf Channel analyst, Kelly Tilghman did her best Fuzzy Zoeller impression when, discussing Tiger’s dominance with Nick Faldo, suggested the younger golfers should, “Lynch him in a back alley.” Needless to say, Tilghman’s mic’d brilliance didn’t go over very well.
Embracing the damage control reaction, Tilghman issued an apology to Woods and being the media savvy individual he is, Tiger let her off the hook by saying her comments were a non-issue.
Anyway, here’s the video, courtesy of SbB (via FanIQ). It was said both chuckled awkwardly, but ...

Golfweek Uses Lynching Comment to Sell Mags
Published 1/17/2008 at The Sporting Blog
By Chris Mottram
First, the background info. As you've surely seen by now, Golf Channel's Kelly Tilghman made the horrible, inexcusable mistake of saying the following line about Tiger Woods last week:
Tilghman apologized for her comment, owned up to the mistake and is paying the price in the form of a two-week suspension. So, let's move on and not continue to make light of her extremely offensive blunder.
Or not.
Golfweek has decided to go the completely opposite route and use the image of a swinging noose on the cover of its newest issue:
Uh ...
