Ken Griffey Jr. Hits Home Run #600
Published 6/10/2008 at FanIQ Blog
Isn't it just typical that Ken Griffey Jr., during this period where his record accomplishment has been ignored, would hit his 600th home run in front of a few hundred at Dolphins Stadium.
The good news is that however many fans were there, made enough noise and long enough to get a most deserving curtain call.
Junior deserved more. A sellout crowd all on their feet would have been nice, but above all else, Griffey deserved to be considered the home run king. Unfortunately, a myriad of lower body injuries halted what we all thought would be a run at Hank Aaron's record. ...

Filed under: Reds, NL Central, MLB Video, Cincinnati, Breaking News, MLB Milestones It's been ten days since Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 599th home run. In the interim, it seems like most of the focus has been on how he didn't hit number six hundred right away, how the public seems to be ignoring the feat because of the cheapening of the number by steroids, and how he would've been here years ago if not for his injuries. All those things are true, and they're all unfair. Tonight, Ken Griffey Jr. launched his 600th home run into the stands on a pitch ...
Ken Griffey, Jr. 600th Homer Video

On Monday, Ken Griffey, Jr. hit his 600th homer to become just the sixth player to reach that number. With 600 homers, Griffey now trails only Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays and Sammy Sosa. If Griffey can hit ten more homers this season, he will pass Sosa and move into fifth place.
Griffey’s long ball came off of Mark Hendrickson in the first inning. The Cincinnati Reds went on to beat the Florida Marlins 9-4. On the season, Griffey is now batting .260 with seven homers and 29 RBI.
Here is a video of Griffey’s historic number 600: ...
Ken Griffey, Jr. Joins The 600 Homerun Club
Published 6/10/2008 by BeeZee at Fantasy Baseball Dugout
Monday night, Ken Griffey, Jr. became the sixth player in Major League history to hit 600 career homeruns. In the first inning of last night’s game against the Florida Marlins, Griffey went yard for the 600th time off lefty Mark Hendrickson on a 3-1 pitch. He parked the pitch for in the right field bleachers, like he’s done so many times before, 413 feet away from home plate. The homer drove in two runs. Junior called his shot - kinda. He told Reds coach Dusty Baker and teammate Jerry Hairston he would hit no. 600 on Sunday. Ken Griffey Jr. Hits #600

Ken Griffey Jr. hit the 600th home run of his career yesterday in Miami (in front of approximately 600 people ironically enough), and I have to say, it makes me feel old. I can still remember the first time I saw Junior play in a game against the White Sox. He was a 19-year old kid, and I was 8-years old, and I remember that skinny punk kid hitting an RBI single up the middle at the Kingdome that I believe gave the Mariners the lead. I'm not sure why I can remember that game, but it probably had something to do with Hawk Harrelson going on and on about how great this kid was going to be, so I paid attention. I wasn't old enough to know any better at ...
