Kenny George: Could We See A Nearly 8-foot Tall NBA player?
Published 1/9/2008 at FanIQ Blog
The New York Times today informed me of UNC-Asheville center Kenny George, who I'd never heard of. And I'm not sure why I'd never heard of him after I read his stats.
George stands 7 feet 9 inches with his shoes on. He also weighs a more than solid 360 pounds and wears size 26 shoes.
Your first thought is likely, uh oh, we've got another Sun Ming Ming on our hands.
But that's not the case.
George is actually having a rather impressive senior season. He's averaging 12.8 points per game, 9.2 rebounds, and a not-so-surprising 5.4 blocked shots per game. He's also shooting an unreal 70% from the ...
Kenny George is tall, really tall
Published 1/9/2008 by PostmanR at The Postmen // A Sports Blog // Chicago, IL.
The name Kenny George is not entirely new to me; I watched the highlights of this cat against UNC last year on SportsCenter. (Back when, you know, I watched SportsCenter.) He was incredibly slow, but also insanely captivating in the way he went after blocks and scored. Dude is 7 foot 7, 360 pounds as the point guard center for UNC-Ashville. I cannot fathom a life of ducking through doorways, size 26 shoes or sitting like a freak in classroom chairs. His life is like something out of a J.R. R. Tolkien novel.
In any event, there are a myriad of other problems with being that size, as the NYT details today: ...

GHEORGHE MURESAN CAN FINALLY STAR IN A BUDDY COMEDY
Published 1/10/2008 by theangryt at Epic Carnival - Pop Culture, Sports, Celebrities, Babes, Rumors, Innuendo
by T, TheAngryT Hopefully by now you have seen young Kenny George, the 7'7", man-beast playing center for UNC-Asheville. Kenny's wingspan is 8'5" and he wears a size 28 shoe, six sizes larger than the big man currently playing poorly in Miami. Kenny and the boys made the trip to Chapel Hill Wednesday night and take on the #1 Tarheels. Although it takes him a solid five seconds to get up the floor, Kenny put on a pretty good show against North Carolina. He scored 14 points, grabbed 11 boards and blocked 4 shots. Those numbers are pretty much par for the course for Curiously Tall George this season. He is ...

How to Fix the Slam Dunk Contest

By Chris Mottram
Our friend Dustin Canalin over at UNDRCRWN presented a simple, yet fantastic solution to improve the current state of the All-Star Weekend's dunk contest: "Take the best dunkers in the world, NBA or not, and put up a million bucks."
This got us thinking: Who would be included in such a contest? My top three candidates would be as follows.
The Air Up There:
This crazy Japanese dude (assuming props are allowed):
And of course, Kenny ...
Nate Robinson Does Not Know He's Short

The only thing better than extremely tall people dunking is extremely short people dunking. And nobody does it better than Nate Robinson, who stands at a menacing 5'9":
That was from Saturday night's victory over the Heat. I don't know much about the NBA, but it's my understanding that Miami is not very good at basketball.

For Kenny George of UNC-Asheville, who stands at 7′8″, dunking isn’t terribly difficult:
However, George isn’t quite the tallest basketball player in the world…that honor belongs to Sun Ming Ming, who is 7′9″:
I Had theTamarind Duck for Dinner

Made me feel a bit sluggish. It would probably take a lot of tamarind duck to make Kenny George feel sluggish. He is a very tall man. If I meet him, I will ask him what it's like to have Tyler Hansbrough be your daddy.
In Praise Of Kenny G

Let's briefly talk about Kenny George. If you don't know who that is watch this or this and if you're still interested read this. I'm a little perplexed why there is not more draft buzz surrounding Kenny. The most respected draft sites have him going no higher than the middle of the second round, if he is to be picked at all. There is no justification in my eyes for such a low ranking. Yes, George is a serious injury risk, and he has problems with his conditioning. But he is also 7'7", 360 pounds, and can actually play basketball. There is one college player in the country who has a PER as high as Michael ...
Conference tourney wrap: 3/6/08

Game of the Day 8) INDIANA STATE 71, 9) WICHITA STATE 67 (MISSOURI VALLEY) Indiana State has been one of the bottom four teams in the Missouri Valley Conference resigned to play on the opening day of Arch Madness for as long as I can remember. For this reason, and the fact that I own a pair of sweet '79 throwback ISU shorts, I've always found myself pulling for the Sycamores to make a miraculous run on the opening weekend of March. The dream stayed alive yesterday as eighth-seeded Indiana State held off No. 9 Wichita State 71-67, in the only game of the day that was relatively competitive. The ...
SAD STORY ABOUT KENNY GEORGE

Kenny George, the 7'7" Center out of UNC-Asheville had part of his foot amputated over the weekend... UNC Asheville's Kenny George, at 7-foot-7 the nation's tallest college basketball player, will not play this year amid reports part of his right foot was amputated. If you haven't seen Kenny George play, its actually quite entertaining. Especially since a lot of the teams UNC-Asheville goes up against rarely have guys who are even a foot shorter than him. Take for example this short clip of a game against Montreat.... ...
