El Guapo's Ghost Rambles on about the Red Sox — SENSATIONAL SPORTS WEEKEND My buddy and I had Monster seats on Saturday. Even though it was cold, we had a great time. Sox kicked a$$ and took names and I caught a ball in BP. On Sunday, we had tickets to the Celtics whipping of the Hawks. Fun stuff. I actually started to hate the Hawks like the Pistons and Lakers back in the day. And in that frame of mind, we struck a deal for two BIBBY SUCKS t-shirts for $12 outside of Fenway the night before. Zaza would have sold like hot cakes but he ain’t even worth it.

That ‘ZaZa getting in KG’s face‘ thing was the Hawks defining moment early in the series. This, then, is what we would call “coming full circle.”

Hawks/Celtics game 7 was comparable to a bar fight
Hail Mary Jane —
So the Hawks and Celtics round 1 matchup was a hard fought one. The Hawks said die even when they were down 0-2. Despite their best efforts they couldn’t take one game in Boston and the Celtics ended the series convincingly yesterday.
Tensioned boiled over as the Hawks were getting their asses handed to them and Marvin Williams took it out on Rajon Rondo in a big way.
Kevin Garnett also got in on the action, dropping Zaza Pachulia ...

NHL -- You thought with the Pennsylvania primary having passed, you might be rid of any Keystone State related happenings until the next sizable meth lab explosion. Well, you're probably right. Granted, the Penguins finished off the Rangers yesterday in overtime to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals to meet the Flyers. Still, it's hockey and you probably won't find out who won the Stanley Cup until it's a question at your bar's Tuesday night trivia contest. Then you'll wish you'd paid attention! The Internets are alive: Hawks at Celtics, Game 7
Ball Don't Lie —
Scanning the blogs and beats following the Celtics' 99-65 series clinching win over the Hawks in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals ... Lenny Megliola, MetroWest Daily News: "This is how easy it was. The Garden psychopaths were calling for Brian Scalabrine in the third quarter. Scal was wearing dress pants, a suit jacket and a fancy blue-striped shirt at the time. It was that kind of game; that is, no contest at all. Never were the Atlanta Hawks in this one. You think they got smacked in Games 1 and 2? Hell, those games were competitive compared to what the Celtics laid on 'em ...
Weekend Tube Review: Tough Spot for NBC

Kentucky Derby NBC's airing of the 134th Kentucky Derby was rather impressive and they were in the midst of a seamless broadcast on Saturday when tragedy put them in an awkward position. Immediately following the race, NBC began showing the celebration of those involved with Derby winner Big Brown when the cameras focused on the second place finisher Eight Belles -- who was on the ground. NBC went immediately to one of their on track reporters who went through the numerous situations that could have occurred from seizures to heart problems. The equine ambulances were dispatched to the track and blocked the view of the fallen horse. As NBC ...

NBA Playoffs: Beating Your Opponent Down
Intentional Foul —
So what did we learn this weekend? The Hornets have no plans of making it easy on the Spurs. Yesterday, the Lakers just kind of skated by Utah, who was coming off their series clincher against Houston; a game played on Friday night.
Utah is probably really happy that Kobe shot a lot of free throws (21-23), which was only seven less than the entire Jazz team (22-30).
To the MVP goes the whistles.
We also learned Detroit is playing really good basketball right now but if they revert to their “switch-on, switch-off” mentality, the Magic will get right back in this series — ...
Zaza Pachulia, Meet Kevin Garnett
MVN Outsider —
If there was a single play on Sunday afternoon that represented the Atlanta Hawks’ performance in Game Seven of their series with the Boston Celtics, look no further than the video below.
In the clip, Zaza Pachulia of the Hawks gets acquainted with Kevin Garnett — and for fans in Atlanta, this flat-out nasty pick by KG perfectly symbolizes their squad’s complete collapse in their chance to shock the basketball world and upset the Celtics.

The guys over at ROOMOFZEN recently sent me footage of KG's pick on Zaza Pachulia from game 7. This then sent me off on a YouTube tangent that eventually led me to a clip of people reacting to Kevin Garnett entering the league. And it's one of the best YouTube clips I've ever seen:

10 Reasons: Kevin Garnett Pounds his Chest so Much
Le Basketbawl —
I'm sure you've all noticed that Kevin Garnett continually pounds the hell out of his chest after a big play, momentum swing, or to just get his team jacked up and frankly, it’s obnoxious as hell. The chest pound usually includes puckered lips and his signature evil eyes which of course makes it that much more inescapable. So as we watched him whack away during the NBA Finals with the potential to break a sternum, we asked ourselves solemnly, “Why KG? Why do continue to beat yourself in a way that makes Sasha Headbandcich seem less obnoxious? Why sir? Why must you give us a reason to start ...
The 2008 NBA Playoff Recap: What We Learned [Nba Season Wrapup]
Deadspin —
The 2008 NBA playoffs did more than just entertain us for the last seven or eight months. It taught us stuff. Some stuff we only suspected, and some other stuff we never even knew before. Here is that stuff. The Atlanta Hawks have fans...real, flesh-and-blood fans. Boston fans, on the other hand, apparently are bandwagon jumpers. The NBA will not tolerate "menacing" hand gestures. Ever. Kevin Garnett never forgets. "Third person" is LeBron James' preferred method of speaking. Basketball and rapper slap-fights can go hand-in-hand. Trash-talking ...

Georgian meat head Zaza “Gabor” Pachulia and his band of ragged winged doves show up in Boston tonight to have their cute little win streak broken. I don’t need to remind you the last time these two met do I? Of course I do. By the way, do you know he has his own web site? My favorite part is the flash intro and the ripping off of the Bulls old entrance music interspersed with pictures of Pachulia shootig jumpers. There’s a lot of amazing stuff on there so poke around, including videos of he and KG going at it. The NBA. It’s fantastic. ...

May Flashback: The 2007-2008 Atlanta Hawks shocked the basketball world by taking their first round playoff series, against the number one seeded Boston Celtics, to seven games. Granted, the Celtics, who later went on to win the 2008 NBA title, blew Atlanta out in convincing fashion in Game 7 (99-65), but nothing but positive energy seeped out in “A-Town.”

BILL RUSSELL AWARD FOR CELTICS PLAYER OF THE YEAR
The #1 Source for New England Sports Opinions and Propaganda... —
The C's were NBA Champions in 07-08, and currently have the best record in the NBA. Last year Pierce, Garnett, and Allen tied for this Award. This year the nominees are: Rajon Rondo - PG Paul Pierce - SF Ray Allen - SG Kevin Garnett - PF Tough decision here... The winner is... K-G, Kevin Garnett! Paul Pierce came an extremely close second place in this one, and it was nearly another split decision. However, KG's rebounding and his consistent performances in the playoffs put him half a nose ahead of Pierce. In the 1 and ...

... than I gave them credit for and they are well coached. Their fundamental flaws remain and they are without their All Star point guard, but they won't be an easy out for anyone in the playoffs.
For at least some Atlanta fans, this game isn't as big a deal anymore. They are starting to feel what it is like to have the playoffs locked up.
Predictably, KG has Stephon's back.
I'm all out of points, so I'm just going to post a link to KG dropping Zaza for fun. Enjoy.
Breakdown of the Celtics 2009-2010 schedule
Boston Celtics Examiner —
First of all, how weird is it to write 2010? I mean, writing any of the 2000 s was strange enough, but this is freaking me out a bit. And the fact that we re still not riding in flying cars disturbs me. In case you missed it, the NBA announced the schedule for the upcoming season, and the league did its best to keep things interesting. Around the league, the Lakers begin their title defense against the Clippers, and we have our annual Kobe/Shaq matchup ...
Kevin Garnett Exposed
TheHoopsForum —
For sometime now mainstream sports media (haha I sound like Fox News) has had a love affair with Kevin Garnett and frankly I am not sure why. Granted Kevin Garnett is a terrific basketball player. Garnett gives 100% every time he steps on the floor and his defensive abilities helped lead the Celtics to banner No. 17 but in my opinion Garnett is not who everyone thinks he is. [image] This inexplicable love for Garnett runs very deep, all the way back to Garnett's high school days. Garnett was a McDonald's All-American and there was a lot of hype surrounding Garnett because he was contemplating skipping college and heading straight to the NBA. ...
It's Finally Here: Some baseless predictions as the Pistons open the regular season
Full-Court Press —
The Pistons open the season against Memphis tonight, which is good because I can only break down the exploits of guys going half-speed in the preseason for so long. I've written thousands of words about preseason basketball this year, largely without the benefit of getting to watch the games. The words mostly mean nothing at this point. But I still feel the need to make some predictions -- call it closure. So here's what I think will happen this season with the Pistons and in the NBA: Most Improved Player : I agree with Justin's look at Rodney Stuckey ...
