... , Doc Rivers and the Celtics are "very interested" in Dikembe Mutombo. Mutombo would serve as the backup center and even at 41 years of age he would still be a quality defender and rebounder. Mutombo last season appeared in 75 games averaging 17.2 minutes per game. When Yao Ming was injured last season, Mutombo showed that he still has a lot left: in the month of January he averaged 12.4 rebounds per game in 30.9 minutes of action per game. He had a season high 22 rebounds on March 2nd versus Denver and a season high 5 blocks versus the Lakers on January 10th. Mutombo would fit in well on a Celtics team already full of high character players. Although the Celtics are interested in adding Mutombo, Mutombo has contemplated retirement and if he does return he might be more inclined to stay in Houston.
