Right place at the right time... Good putback on the missed alley-oop.

Not sure the Wolves will still feel "Love" after 3-4 seasons or if they'll regret trading Mayo, but for now he looks like a solid pick.

He has a great basketball IQ. I think he will turn out to be a solid pick for years to come.

Love is going to be a very good pro.  Minnesota is in a tough spot though because as mentioned above, I see Mayo turning out to be a very good pro as well.

     I wonder if it was a win/win situation or a lose/lose?

I think he is one of the frosh that has no upside. What you see is what you get now (and in years to come). On the other hand I think he is ready for the NBA right now and will be a solid player for quite sometimes. Not a superstar, but a solid player.

OK, we are all giving our opinion. I will go a little bit more in depth with mine.

    1. AS I said, Basketball IQ is out the roof.
    2. His rebound is better than average right now. Will grow but will never be the best.
    3. Can be a team leader and clutch.
    4. Should never be a distraction or a negative.
    5. Is thick not fragile and should play for many years.
    6. Has nice hands around the basket.
    7. Should get a solid 10-20 point 8-12 rebound and get a few assists, steels, and blocks.

Is he the next Larry bird? No. Is he a bust? NOOOO. He was a very solid pick. Not many players today are students of the game. Most players know their own game, and do not know the team game very well at all.

Kevin Love And Jerryd Bayless Continue To Dominate Summer League Play
Published 7/18/2008 at FanIQ Blog
At the very least, you just hope your top draft pick can get acclimated to the increased speed and athleticism of the NBA during summer league games. If he plays well on top of that, then great. But if he dominates, then you've really got yourself a player. Kevin Love and Jerryd Bayless have been nothing short of impressive. Facing each other last night in Las Vegas, Love notched his third straight double-double, this one to the tune of 26 points and 15 rebounds. As I said before, get used 60+ doubles out of the Timberwolves new power forward this season. He also ...

We’re seeing some pretty good plays in the NBA summer league this year. Even I have to admit though that I didn’t see this one coming, at all. Here is a sick rebound dunk by Kevin Love. Thanks to Odenized for this one. Tags: kevin love, nba summer league

T'Wolves Coach: Love Has Bird's Instincts

... He's getting an easy 20 points a game, which I suppose was expected, but he's been an absolute beast on the boards getting 15 a game. He's not going to keep up with a guy half his size, but he can get above the rim when he needs to.) ...

More than that, though, his overall awareness is leaps and bounds better than most of the guys he's sharing the floor with. I've heard people talk about his outlet passes in the past, and to be honest, I never really understood ...

Bayless and the Numbers Game

There are a plethora of numbers that jump off the page when you look at Portland rookie guard Jerryd Bayless' stat page through his first three games at the Las Vegas Summer League. First you see his 27.7 points per game average. That’s damn near 30 a game from a kid who doesn’t even turn 20-years old for another month.
