Celtics Embarrass Knicks to Stay Perfect at Home
Published 11/30/2007 by FLCeltsFan at LOY's PLACE a celtics green blog
The Celtics embarrassed the Knicks 104-59. Yes, that score is correct. One hundred four to fifty nine. Tonight's game had as much to do with how poorly the Knicks played as it did how well the Celtics played. It seemed as though the Knicks just stopped playing. The Celtics played with energy from the start and never ...
Kevin Garnett Discusses the Mess That Is The Knicks and Craig Sager's Tie
Published 11/30/2007 at FanIQ Blog
Like Jon said in NBA Triple Threat, the Knicks are so embarrassing it's not even funny anymore. As long as I've been watching the NBA I've never seen a team hit such a low, quit and not feel all that bad about it.
Even Kevin Garnett couldn't poke fun at the mess, and points out how Stephon Marbury isn't the same guy he knew in Minnesota. What KG could do, though, was make fun of Craig Sager's outfit. Good stuff.

I know this space is generally reserved for all baseball all the time, and there is a blockbuster deal in the works with Johan Santana, but this was too good to pass up. There is a team in Boston not named the Red Sox or the Patriots. They play basketball and they are pretty good. Last night, they dismantled the Knicks Patriot-style, in yet another Boston over New York triumph. When the dust settled, the final score was 104 to 59. No typo, 59 points by the hapless followers of Isaiah...Thomas that is. But that wasn't the best part. Kevin Garnet taking it to Craig Sager in the post-game interview is a classic. ...

I Miss Tormented KG

This video is all over the place this morning, and I hate it. For one, what's Kevin Garnett supposed to say when asked about Stephon Marbury? The following might actually count as a back-handed insult, if there is such a thing:
"Steph's different from how he was in Minnesota," Garnett said of his former teammate. "You just don't come out and quit. You got to have a reason or someone has to make you quit." See, at least it suggests that Marbury was once a real basketball player. ...

The Lazy Eye Week in Review...

Ahhh, finals week. Amidst the papers and presentations, I didn't really have the time to get caught up in the week that was. But, I did anyway. This week, KG gave Craig Sager fashion advice, the Twins took a flier on a bat tosser, we watched Jeff Foster and his eyebrows destroy the Blazers and there was a spirited Republican debate. It was a big week... ...

Celtics 104, Knicks 59 - When a last second Nate Robinson three-point shot is the thing that saves you from setting a new franchise low for points in a game, then maybe it’s time to question (yet again) the direction in which your head of basketball ops and head coach is taking the team in. By all accounts, the Knicks became a ...

Here's a comparison of Evel Knievel's injuries to Steve McNair's injuries. - I finally decided I believe this. Kansas State forward Bill Walker had to face the call of nature in the closing seconds of a game ... so he peed in some towels. - Brian Billick has a crush on Rodney Harrison. - A very nice analysis of the Wizards roster - why they shouldn't sign anyone new. - A little Heisman ...

Steve Nash Has Little Respect For Craig Sager’s Wardrobe
Published 2/20/2008 by Anthony Hall at MVN Outsider
Making fun of Craig Sager’s wardrobe — well, it’s almost too easy. He’s a man stuck in the 1970s…I mean, I’m no fashion expert by any means, but even I know that Sager wears some of the ugliest stuff imaginable.
I, for one, believe an intervention is necessary. We need to tell Sager to stop the madness, and update the ole wardrobe by, say, two or three decades. As it seems, Steve Nash agrees with that assessment — the superstar point guard recently showed what he thinks of Sager’s fashion choices during an interview at the All-Star Game:
This isn’t the first time an NBA ...
The Case for Garnett as MVP II
Published 4/11/2008 by ManchvegasBob at Celtics 17
They say it comes down to Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, LeBron James, Tim Duncan and the Celtics’ own Kevin Garnett as the leading candidates for the NBA’s 2007-08 MVP.
I say follow Paul Pierce’s recommendation and support Garnett as the one that truly deserves the MVP this year. As you probably have read by now, Pierce said,
“You have to understand where I came from a year ago, and to be on pace to win as many games as we are, I wouldn’t have believed it. The whole face of Celtics nation turned around when the trade happened with this guy. Everybody talks about the MVP, and they talk about numbers, but ...

Published 5/28/2008 by Dutch's Wormhole (noreply@blogger.com) at Poor Sports: Bitter Philly Sports Fans Sound Off
As the NBA Playoffs continue, we are subjected to all kinds of characters reporting the games, some good (Jeff Van Gundy) and some bad (Reggie Miller). Not to be left out, fashion macon Craig Sager knows that you hate his suits and that's why he wears them. This post probably belongs on Awful Announcing or Fire Joe Morgan, but since the Phils are currently up 1-0 and there's nothing else going on in the Philly sports scene, I felt compelled to comment on Sager. With the Eastern and Western Conference Finals playing on one day's rest, I have been getting inundated with Sager's sense of high fashion. Frankly, I think its ridiculous, and so ...
Stephon Marbury: The Face Tattoo and Assorted Bad Decisions
Published 7/13/2008 by Jim at Green Bandwagon: Front Page Posts
It's been a long strange ride for Marbury over the last couple of years. And yet much like Mike Tyson, who went through a series of bizarre, albeit more outlandish, events, Marbury appears to have reached the point of no return with his face tattoo. I've got nothing against tattoos. However, Marbury's most recent one caused me to look back over the tumultuous events of his last couple of seasons. And to be honest I probably missed a few.
- His launch of the Starbury line of shoes, which are affordable and allowed him to make LeBron James look terrible. Possibly the last positive on this list, depending upon how you feel about Yes ...

Do Not Call Kevin Garnett 7 Foot Tall, Craig Sager, Video. Craig Sager sits down with Kevin Garnett in the waning moments of the 2007 All Star game. He opened up the interview with twice mentioning KG’s height at 7 foot. That was a mistake.
Garnett sternly says, ” I’m 6′ 11″ and quarters tall. First off I’m 6′ 11″. At least I think he said “quarters tall”. That makes this video cooler, so we will say he said that. Sager goes on the defensive, and says that his shoes make up the difference. Garnett interjects ...

Remember that video I posted of TBS reporter Craig Sager's flaming orange suit getting doused because Jonathan Papelbon is kind of an ass? Well, before I went with the whole "the Red Sox and their fans are dickheads" angle on that post, I considered focusing more on Craig Sager, and how he has an uncanny ability to pop up in strange and unexpected ways during great moments in American sport, and several bizarre connections to various crazy shit. For example, in the picture above, that's him behind Hank Aaron, after Aaron broke Babe Ruth's all-time home run record. The at-bat starts at 1:50 of the clip below, and you can ...
