Flopping Ruins Another NBA Playoff Game
Published 4/22/2008 at FanIQ Blog
Tim Donaghy may be in the NBA's past, but it's still the same ol' Association. A failure to do anything about egregious flopping has resulted in another great NBA playoff game being ruined. Andrei Kirilenko opts to not fight off a Luis Scola screen and instead pretend the Rockets rookie's wrist (say that three times) was capable of sending him into the 1st row. This can't happen. Let me rephrase. This CAN happen, but the NBA officials can't call it a foul on Scola. I've been arguing for a couple years now that this garbage needs to be called a technical ...

To Flop is to Cheat?
Published 4/23/2008 by Fadango at SportSayers.com
Flopping is nothing new, but the whole notion has seemed to spread all through this year’s NBA Playoffs. Perhaps it is due to the increase of international players into the NBA; nonetheless, flopping has managed to become a huge part of the game. Some people say flopping mainly originated from soccer, hence the international exposure. For the majority of my childhood, I played soccer like most kids did. I was usually always one of the littlest kids on the field, so flopping was a huge part of my arsenal. If someone just touched me I would do flips and other movements in the air ...

The Foul..I Mean..The Flop..
Published 4/29/2008 by Mike Franco at The Free Throw Line
I’ve noticed that throughout these playoffs the “flops” have certainly picked up and it just makes me sick.  Kirilenko’s flop on the Louis Scola “foul” may have won the Jazz the game.  Was it a foul? You can argue yes, but it was for sure the flop that sold it. Manu Ginobli is notorious for his flopping and could be one of the worst in the league.  After seeing this garbage in the playoffs and regular season year after year, it gave me an idea to try and put together an “All NBA Flopper Team.”  Andrei Kirilenko (Utah Jazz: #47: Power Forward) Oh boy do have I found some good stuff ...

NBA to institute fines for flopping
Published 5/30/2008 by Stu Holdren (noreply@blogger.com) at NBA Noise
As much as the game is entertainment, these days some players are making there money from some incredible acting skills. I'm not talking about Shaq in Kazaam, or even Dennis Rodman in that Jean Claude Van Dam movie (what the hell was that called again?). I'm referring to the Manu Ginobilis and Vlade Divacs of the world. The segment of players who are considered to be "floppers" - wildly flailing at the slightest touch as if a major assault were just laid upon their face. Although the specific amounts have yet to be disclosed, the NBA will start instituting fines for players "flopping". Stu Jackson, the NBA ...

Defending The Flop
I was listening to Mike and Mike on my way to work Tuesday morning and Greenberg went on a rather large tangent about flopping. Apparently, a "flop" by Andrei Kirilenko in the closing minutes of game two helped Utah steal another win in Houston and got the Jazz up 2-0. Mr. Duel was livid about the flailing and that the NBA should step in and do something about it. His proposal: to whistle ...
Stop Blaming The Floppers
Getting pissed off at guys like Manu Ginobili or Anderson Varejao for flopping is de rigeur in the blog world. We’re supposed to get all haughty and make fun of how they look like they were shot by a sniper. But not me. I say leave the floppers alone. This conversation is hot today because Andrei Kirilenko obviously flopped at the end of the Jazz-Rockets game… and got a ...
