The Stanley Cup is in the building. Based on the way the series has gone, it's hard to argue with a Detroit win tonight. In order to keep the Cup firmly set in its case, the Penguins are going to have to beat the Red Wings in Detroit. Actually, forget winning. Let's keep things simple: The Penguins need to be able to score at Joe Louis Arena, something they still have yet to do this series. Someone needs to steal Pittsburgh a game. The NHL Closer is written by five insomniacs from Melt Your Face Off. We blame overtime hockey and copious amounts of caffeine for our condition. Raskolnikov downed two cases of Mountain Dew to recapitulate last night's epic thriller. Supposedly, Babe Ruth pointed to the center field bleachers at Wrigley Field before hitting a home run on the very next pitch. What little proof we have of that event actually taking place is based on a grainy photograph and some old men who swear that it happened. It’s been a depressing day just thinking about the game and the 34.7 seconds that kept us from the Cup. But then I find out that KnobHockey has created some new clips and the two below got me cracking up so thanks to the brains behind Knob Hockey for providing some much needed laughter. I was bummed to learn that I can’t seem to find the Dominik Hasek one from last postseason that was absolutely hilarious on either YouTube or Heavy.com. If you have a link to it, please let me know!

I watched that heartbreaking Game 5 sitting hunkered down on a couch next to at least three other people I consider to have become hockey fans in large part because of me (this is not to brag about myself at all, but rather to admit to the fact that I have been forcing my obsession on all of my friends and am surprised they still stick around), entreating them to watch, to learn, to love the playoffs and to see their team through it, trying to explain to them what it feels like to watch your team lift Lord Stanley, to even be, yourself, in the same room with the greatest prize you can imagine. ...
