Kobe Bryant and Martial Arts
Published 2/25/2008 at ESPN.com - True Hoop - Blog
Elie Seckbach talks martial arts with Kobe Bryant. I haven't seen it reported before that Bryant practices martial arts during the season -- and when Seckbach first brings it up, Bryant asks him where he heard about it. Then Bryant talks a bit about it, and nicely offers to beat up Seckbach.
Kobe Bryant: With Karate, I’ll Kick Your Ass
Published 2/25/2008 by Chris at Intentional Foul
Not only will Kobe Bean dunk on you, pull up for contested jumpers in your grill and lock you down defensively, he’s also trained to whomp your behind if that’s what it takes. According to the interview posted below, The Next One trains in Bruce Lee’s martial art, Jeet Kune Do, in order to make him an even better offensive player… well, that and to handle any Raja Bell clotheslines that may be upcoming.
Is it just me, or does Kobe have this air about him? One that gives off this, “I’m so much better than you” ...
Kobe Bryant: Martial Arts Master?
Published 2/27/2008 by Larry Brown at Larry Brown Sports
Apparently Kobe Bryant trains in a discipline called jeet kune do, which was developed by none other than Bruce Lee. In the video, Kobe says he’s good enough to kick your ass, making you wonder why he even needed a bodyguard in the first place. Video evidence courtesy of none other than Elie Seckbach:
Jeet kune do is all about visualizing where your opponent will go next, and trying to beat him to the punch. Sounds like a pretty good practical application for playing basketball. I doubt it has much of an impact on Kobe’s game, ...
Kobe Bryant's 'Way of the Intercepting Fist'
Published 2/28/2008 at Ball Don't Lie
Not only will Kobe Bryant beat you down on the basketball court, he'll also kick your ass off of it. Yes, according to the embedded NBA correspondent, Elie Seckbach, Kobe trains in Bruce Lee's martial art, Jeet Kune Do -- literal translation, "way of the intercepting fist" -- in order to take his game to the next level. Man, I can’t wait to watch Kobe do this to Raja Bell or Bruce Bowen in the playoffs. (Hat-tip to Larry Brown Sports, Seattle PI)
