Pay Lache Seastrunk
Double Extra Point — Rivals.com published an article recently on Lache (pronounced Lake) Seastrunk who is a high school sophomore running back from Temple, Texas. Watch this video and continue to remind yourself he is a high school sophomore. Texas, LSU, Oklahoma, and Miami are his top choices right now. I am not condoning cheating but someone please give Dale Jensen his home number.

Rivals Thinks It's Found the Next High School Football Phenom
FanHouse — Filed under: NCAA FB VideoAnd he's a sophomore running back from Temple, Texas by the name of Lache Seastrunk. They're comparing him to Noel Devine in that his highlight videos might become an internet sensation. Personally, it's evident that the kid has serious separation speed. Sort of reminds me of Steve Slaton in his gait. He's playing in a Wing T offense so there will be some questions about how he might transition to a more conventional offense in college but the physical skills are there. What do you think? Morning Coffee Is Human Again
Burnt Orange Nation — I hope those watching charged the meal to the Underhills. After a day to travel and another to sleep I re-emerged (human again) to find Texas and Georgia fans immersed in a massive open thread for the NCAA Tennis Championship, all of which I missed; as a fan and player of the sport, I would have loved to catch some of the action. ...

Adopt-A-Recruit Draft: Thursday 3:00 p.m. CT
Burnt Orange Nation — Last year we experimented with Adopt-A-Horn, which was popular as a concept but proved not to be of limited utility; I didn't need someone telling me how Colt McCoy or Marcus Jackson played--I saw it myself. Accordingly, I'm ditching the project this year unless enough of folks speak up that they'd like another go-round. However, I do think the concept can be put to better use--as a tool to track high school players Texas has, is, or may recruit. The operating premise is the same as Adopt-A-Horn: Once you've drafted your player, he'll be your adopted son for the football season. Once a week, there will be a post asking you to fill in the rest of BON about ...

Morning Coffee Is Sounding Old
Burnt Orange Nation — What to make of the partying? Five-star target Dre Kirkpatrick partied with a current Longhorn player while taking his official visit, going to a Kappa party ($) with Sergio Kindle on Friday before Kindle hosted another party on Saturday. Certainly, gaining an appreciation of the party scene around campus will factor into the decision for recruits and Kirkpatrick cited watching Kindle and others dance as his favorite part of the trip, evidence of the camaraderie having fun and partying creates, but how much of a liability is it to have recruits attending parties unmonitored? Jamarkus McFarland, despite the later admissions of ...

A Little More Perspective on Recruiting As The 2009 Recruiting Season Comes to a Close and the 2010 Recruiting Season Opens
And The Valley Shook — One of the things I love about the recruiting business is the love-hate relationship you absolutely have to have if you're going to understand it.  Recruiting is an essential part of maintaining the health of a program.  If you don't believe, go check out Auburn's commitment lists from about 2004 to present.  You'll get a really good sense of why Auburn has declined some. But then if you want to get the sense of how overhyped and hyperconcerned people can be, then check out this article, chronicling what has become of the Scout top 50 players from the 2005 class.  That article goes over the careers or the ...

Kornheiser's Cartel — Rivals is calling him the top player in the Class of 2010, the best running back in years, and the next Walter Payton. I watch his videos and think, "Oh, no way, a black Vinny Sutherland!" Which is sweet because I loved Vinny Sutherland. But last I checked he wasn't in the Hall of Fame. Hang on, let me check again. ...
