YouTube gold: 'Laker Rhapsody' song
Published 3/25/2008 at Ball Don't Lie
Regardless of what you think of the Los Angeles Lakers, this "Laker Rhapsody" video is a brilliant, creative piece of work. The lyrics, the delivery, the slide show -- it all makes for a hilarious and entertaining parody. In fact, I suggest you throw on a unitard, turn up the volume and watch it right this second: The Marc Gasol crescendo had me on the floor. A million points to the Dave Dameshek Show and Erkki Corpuz for sharing this with the world.

Brilliant… funniest thing I’ve seen on YouTube this year, perhaps the funniest ever. First saw it over at Ball Don’t Lie, and it was created by Errki Corpuz & first shown on the Dave Dameshek Show.
Enjoy.

'LAKER RHAPSODY' IS MARGINALLY FUNNY

As classic Queen songs go, I can't really object to "Bohemian Rhapsody" being used to recap the Lakers' recent history and season so far. This video is fairly long, but reasonably well done, and it raises the question: what songs should be used for other NBA teams? As far as Queen goes, I was thinking "Hammer to Fall" for the Knicks -- We're just waiting for the hammer to fall, indeed -- but then I thought I'd open it up to all songs. Coming to Oklahoma City next year: some team not named the Sonics, set to Live's "Shit ...

Lakers Rhapsody

Though I will cop to owning a Weird Al Yankovic album during my youth in the 80s, I’ve never been a big fan of song parodies. This one, however, produced by the fine folks at the Dave Dameshek show at 710 ESPN in LA, is pretty funny. Discuss:
Rhapsodizing the Lakers

Via Yahoo's Ball Don't Lie: A Lakers-centric music video so amazingly funny and well done that I actually stopped hating Kobe Bryant for, like, two seconds. And that has to be a personal record, unless you count the time a falling piano knocked me unconscious. The video was created by by Erkki Corpuz, with lyrics by Mike McCalla and music performed by Dick Banks.

Huge props to Erkki Corpuz of Oxnard, Calif ., who put together this tremendous video about the Lakers with the lyrics set to the tune of Bohemian Rhapsody . One of the best I've ever seen. John Hollinger (Insider) on the idea of banning players from the NBA for not one, but two years after high school: "... that's the real threat of Stern's idea -- that the next LeBron James or Carmelo Anthony will decide that it would be much easier to spend the next two years making several million dollars in Barcelona or Athens. Once over there, he'd have an incentive to stay because of another restraint -- the rookie salary scale. ... Because of situations like that, the league is down from 85 international players a year ago to 75 this season -- even though the quality of said players hasn't changed. But the wave of ...
