Film Session: USA vs. China
Upside and Motor — Photo from REUTERS/Sergio Perez. USA! China! Olympics! Yeah! OK, let's get down to it: Hey, guess what? Team USA got off to a bad start. China hangs in this game much too long, primarily due to some nice shooting from outside. But in the first half, I counted just one of those shots that was contested well (China ended up 8/16 on threes for the half). Worried yet? I'm not so sure. China caught fire from outside and still trailed by 12 at halftime despite some terribly inefficient offensive play and a defense that had plenty of holes. If this were a better shooting team (Lithuania, Greece, and Spain come to ...

Team USA Dunks on China’s Collective Heads
Empty the Bench — Hats off to Chinese national team, who stuck with Team USA for longer than anybody expected. Behind the strength of remarkable three-point marksmanship the score was tied 29-29 with 6 minutes left in the 2nd quarter before LeBron James & Co. finally pulled away in impressive fashion. The early volley of threes from China and the fervor of the home crowd put some pressure on the more talented USA squad, but after stumbling early all fears were put to rest in the third quarter… for the time being. The turning point and defining moment in the match was a ...
