This world class strike by Paul Scholes yesterday propelled Manchester United into the May 21st Champions League Final. Their opponent will be Chelsea, which just defeated Liverpool 3-2 in the rain in overtime. Frank Lampard slotted a PK into the right corner for the game-winner eight minutes into overtime. Paul Scholes is on two goals in three games at the moment, with his goal against Fulham last night going down as one of his better finishes. He caught the ball perfectly and fired the ball in Mark Schwarzer’s direction. The keeper could only block it though, unable to stop it crossing the line, given the pace it came to him.
Granted, it wasn’t up there with his goal against Bradford or Barcelona, but there’s no denying he hit it sweetly. In a typically modest fashion, Scholes has played down his finish, instead praising the ball that came in to him from Michael Carrick.

Before we start discussing this United legend and his future at the club, let’s get talk of that magnificent milestone out of the way, as only a typically limelight loathing Paul Scholes would want us to do. I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you but Wednesday’s 2-0 victory over Portsmouth signalled Scholes’ 600th appearance in a Manchester United shirt. For once in your career Paul, take a thoroughly deserved bow.
