Tom Emanski Is Rolling In His Grave [Manny Ramirez]
Published 7/19/2008 by Matt Sussman at Deadspin
Manny Ramirez, what a free spirit! That hair, that carefree attitude. He's like the Dharma & Greg of our generation! And this is what makes him so lovable, right? Well, no. That would be fielding attempts like this. At a time when it looks like Manny Ramirez might be on his way out of Boston (again?), this moment surely can't help him. Get out your Highlights magazine back covers and count the number of things he does poorly: (1) He assumes the ball was hit with Mary Kate Olsen strength, and comes in way too shallow to field it. The ball lands ...

Red Sox Friday night = Oh no disaster

It's a Saturday morning, and you're probably all doing something better right now. But before I go mail out the last prize in the Commenter Challenge, a few thoughts on last night's 11-3 disaster in Los Angeles of Anaheim near Where I was Rollin' Down Rodeo With a Shotgun : -- Manny Ramirez and Kevin Youkilis homered. These are positive things -- the kind of things one likes to mention before observing how terrifying it was to have Clay Buchholz on the mound after, oh, the first three hitters. He threw 37 pitches... in the first inning . -- Manny homering: Good. Manny fielding? Bad. See the evidence yourself, which apparently ...

Manny Ramirez deserves the Gold Glove

I love Manny and his carefree attitude. He treats life the way I want to treat it; with reckless abandonment. Example below courtesy of Deadspin. No matter how badly he screws something up, he always can smile about it.

Is it me or is Manny being Manny getting kind of old. Here is another situation of the free spirit Manny Ramirez being Manny, reinventing how to play left field. Check out the amazing outfield prowess of Mr. Manny. Thanks Deadspin for this one. Tags: manny, ramirez,, free, spirit

Manny Ramirez Bad Fielding - Video
Published 7/20/2008 by Stephen Kersey at Knuckle Curve - Baseball News
Earlier this year, Manny Ramirez had a great defensive play when he caught a ball, gave a fan a high five and then completed a double play. Click here for the video of that amazing play. But now here is a video of the other side of Manny. While the effort was there, the result wasn’t. Ramirez charged a ball and dove to catch it. His dive was too soon and then he bumbled around while trying to pick up the ball. Watch the Manny Ramirez bad fielding video for yourself: ...

Eckersley sounds off on Manny
Published 7/21/2008 at Extra Bases
Whether it was about his comments on his contract or on his outfield blunder on Friday night, Manny Ramirez talk continued to dominate the headlines, airwaves, blogosphere and general conversation in Red Sox Nation over the weekend. Before Friday's game in Anaheim, NESN analyst and Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley went off on Manny's recent public posturing about his contract situation. ...

Red Sox fans tiring of Manny's act?

It's been a very active month, to say the least, for Manny Ramirez. It all started with Ramirez shoving traveling secretary Jack McCormick, a story that (along with an altercation earlier this season with Kevin Youkilis) belied Ramirez's laid-back reputation. Then came Ramirez's pinch-hitting appearance Sunday night, July 6, in the Bronx, when he looked at three called strikes against Mariano Rivera. Next, it was a back-and-forth in the Boston media, where Ramirez called on the organization for clarity about whether the Red Sox planned to pick up Manny's option for next season, after which John Henry responded that it was "offensive" ...

Manny Ramirez Almost Arrested For Jaywalking In Seattle
Published 7/22/2008 at FanIQ Blog
You know, if Manny Ramirez were even three-quarters of the hitter he's been over the course of his career, I don't think he would have lasted more than one season in the bigs. But the fact remains, the man can rake, and if you can rake, there will always be a spot available to you on a major league roster. But even the Red Sox must be getting tired of Manny's antics and stupidity. And today's story only adds to that impressive list. After last night's game in Seattle, when Manny was subbed out for a pinch runner, our intrepid hero apparently decided to jet out of the stadium before being interviewed. And instead of ...

What else can you say about Manny Ramirez that hasn't been said? The guy is aloof. A flake. A goofball. Whatever. I'm sure you've seen this clip of Manny in action a few nights ago but it's worth another look (and laugh).

Manny Ramirez Knows His Way Around Left Field
Just when you thought Manny Ramirez could not top himself, he does. The following clip courtesy of DEADSPIN shows the man who has redefined the position of left field, at his very best. Nobody dives for a ball, misses it by about 3 feet and crawls on top of said ball quite like you, Manny. FOX SPORTS’ Ken Rosenthal suggests that Manny could very well end up being traded to the ...
