mysportsrumors i cant stand the sox, but wow what a play. how dumb could Huff be there?-
mitcharf Manny just barely caught that ball -- I was watching the game on television and was amazed when he caught it. This video doesn't really do that part of it justice -- the ball was crushed on a line. Anyway, I don't think Huff is to blame here. He's just not very fast. By the time he saw that Manny had made that play, it was too late for him to get back with his speed.

Another Manny Being Manny Moment
Published 5/14/2008 by Ian at SOX & Dawgs
This could be one of the best “Manny Being Manny” moments we have seen in his career with the Boston Red Sox. He makes a great running catch, climbs the wall to high-five a fan and then gets the throw in to the relay man, Dustin Pedroia, who threw to first for a double play.

Manny Ramirez Makes Catch, High Fives Fan, Throws Out Runner
Published 5/14/2008 at FanIQ Blog
Yesterday I poked fun at Manny Ramirez who said he thought he could - and should - win a Gold Glove for his play in left field at some point.
I naturally compared him to the worst outfielder I've ever seen, Glenallen Hill.
Well, today I stand corrected.
Manny made this ridiculous catch in Baltimore on a shot by Kevin Millar, high-fived a fan, then doubled a runner off at first. I'm not sure a Gold Glove has ever been given out for one play, but I'd make an exception for this one.
Wow.

I'll be back later to rant about the continued Bizarro World losing streak that the Red Sox can't seem to ditch, but before I do: Did you see it ? And by "it," I mean the Mannyist play that Manny has ever Mannyed in his Manny Being Manny life. Check the tape, which both Deadspin and Sox & Dawgs have already posted: So let me get this straight: He makes a Web Gem-worthy catch going straight back to the wall, high-fives a fan in the stands, then doubles a runner off first besides ??? I know we're not breaking any new ground here in the sanity of Manny department, and you may have already seen the Zapruder like footage Deadspin posted earlier, but this needs to be seen in slow motion to be appreciated. Watch closely.... He caught it on the run, climbed the wall, high fived a fan, and then doubled up a runner. Insane. That's Bo Jackson running up the wall cool. Manny will never cease to amaze me.
Manny Robs Millar, High Fives Fan, Thinks He’s Funny, Still Loses Game
Published 5/15/2008 by Chris Mottram at Mr. Irrelevant
Another day, another comeback victory for the O’s over the Red Sox. Here are the moving pictures, featuring Manny making possibly the most incredible catch in the history of Manny’s hilarious outfielding, followed by Ramirez high-fiving a Boston douche, then the team having a good laugh in the dugout. Last laugh, however, goes to Jay Peyton and his grand slam:
In all fairness, I do enjoy Manny being himself and found the high five pretty funny. Not as funny as the Baltimore area Boston bandwagon coming out to Camden in force, only to ...

Unbelievable... From today's game, only as Manny can do it. Such a savant, but nothing short of funny... Manny Ramirez made an over-the-shoulder running catch of Kevin Millar's fly ball to left field in the fourth inning on Wednesday then took the time to high-five a fan in the stands before throwing the ball into the infield to complete a double-play. Manny catches warning track drive, then high fives fan

The Red Sox lost this game, 6-3, to Baltimore and they've dropped four in a row to fall out of first place in the AL East. But, hey ... at least Manny is busy being Manny. Seriously, though, I bet catching a ball like that and then high-fiving a fan in the first row of the bleachers is much, much harder than Manny Ramirez, who says he yearns to win a Gold Glove this season, made it look in the clip below. Said Ramirez of the catch: "It was fun. I love it. I think, you know, ...
Only ManRam Could Do This
Published 5/15/2008 by The Omnipotent Q (noreply@blogger.com) at The Mighty Quinn Media Machine
Here is the play everyone is talking about from Wednesday's Sox-Orioles game. Manny Ramirez makes a great catch off the bat of old friend Kevin Millar, and as his momentum carries him to the left field wall, he high fives a Red Sox fan in the stands, and then turns and throws a strike to Dustin Pedroia, who fires the ball to Kevin Youkilis to double off Aubrey Huff at first. Just spectacular. Manny never ceases to amaze, in one way or another. My thanks to uncutvideo.aol.com web site for providing the video.

There’s Nobody Like Manny

He is just one of those once-in-a-generation players that we are lucky to have playing while we’re all fans. There’s nobody like him, and there probably won’t be anyone similar to him at any point in the future. From pointing to the ball to tell his teammate to get a gapper, to using the bathroom inside the Green Monster, to listening to music in the outfield on his iPod built into his customized sunglasses, Manny Being Manny may be the greatest gift to all baseball fans. And the gift that keeps on giving gave once again on Wednesday in Baltimore. Manny went deep into the left-center gap to track down a hard hit ball. He was running so fast that ...

Sure, he can transform the occasional putout into a Spielbergian affair like this (thanks to Ian for the video): But is Manny the best Sox left fielder ever, as he told Rob Bradford earlier this week? Jim Ed's not so sure: I don’t take this to be a personal insult on my play as a leftfielder; I like and respect Manny and we talk regularly at the ballpark. I do disagree with him though. Manny is a great hitter (one of the best of his era) but it is unfair to compare him to Me or Yaz or Williams because we all played in different eras. As a fielder, someone needs to let ...

There is nobody in any sport quite like Manny Ramirez. For that matter, there is nobody anywhere quite like Manny Ramirez.
Heres another case of Manny being Manny. On this play in their game yesterday there was a fly ball hit to Manny, he catches it on the run, climbs the wall, high fives a fan, and then doubles up a runner. Thats nuts. I don’t think you will ever see another play like this.

I like to think that in his own quirky way, maybe Manny Ramirez is the definition of Brahsome. (Note that I could be way off here.) The two handed pointed, the juxtaposition between greatness and laziness. Anywho, last night he defined “Manny Being Manny” as the big guy makes this catch and then proceeds to high five a BoSox fan in the stands.

Baseball fans of all allegiances flocked to Camden Yards on Wednesday hoping to see Manny Ramirez make history by hitting two home runs to reach the 500 home run milestone.
He did make history in one sense, but not in a manner anybody expected. He did so by turning late Orioles PA Announcer Rex Barney’s famous saying “Give that fan a contract” into “Give that fan an assist.”
