Joe Smith of the Mets heckles the Wrigley Bleachers
Published 4/24/2008 by Richie Rich at Home Run Derby
Most of the time you see a video of heckling at a Major League Baseball game, the fans are giving it to a player, whether he be an outfielder or the bullpen catcher.  There’s usually some profanity or something witty (or not so much) bantered about until the player acknowledges them. But how often do you see a Major League player giving it to the fans?  Here’s Joe Smith, a relief pitcher for the New York Mets, throwing some vulgarities towards the Bleacherites in Left Field at Wrigley on Tuesday, April 22 … … Oh yeah, be warned … because Joe Smith has a potty mouth.  ...

NY Met To Cubs Fans: “You Ain’t Sh–, F— You”
Published 4/24/2008 by Brooks at SPORTSbyBROOKS
“mycubseason2008″ recently posted a video on YouTube (via HOME RUN DERBY ) showing Mets Pitcher Joe Smith cursing Cubs fans in the Wrigley Field bleachers before the Cubs-Mets game on April 22. Mets Pitcher Joe Smith Curses At Cubs Fans At Wrigley Field A lot of the audio isn’t intelligible, but here’s what we could make out Smith saying. Smith: “You ain’t sh–. You ain’t got nothing, man. … F— you. … You ain’t got sh–. … I’m in the big leagues you idiot.” In Smith’s defense, we can only imagine what Cubs fans were saying to him at the time. And while he screamed his remarks, he had a smile on his face. With that, we’re guessing it was a ...

Mets' Joe Smith Wins The Battle Against Cubs Fans, Loses The War
Published 4/24/2008 at FanIQ Blog
Every time I see Tiger Woods complain about some photographer that takes a picture of him while he swings, I hate him more and more. And that's because most pro athletes have to deal with a lot more crap than Woods does - especially baseball players. I remember a friend of mine late in a game sang "I love you Bobby Bonilla!" at the top of his lungs from the box seats at a near empty Candlestick Park. Bonilla naturally grounded into a double-play. Some baseball players, like Vernon Wells, are creative in dealing with abusive fans. But others, like Joe Smith, are a bit more direct. This is a very-NSFW video from Home Run ...

Joe Smith does not like Cubs fans
Published 4/24/2008 by Andrew Vazzano at The 'Ropolitans :: New York Mets Baseball Blog
The language is rated R, so be careful blasting this around children. Joe Smith got heckled in the outfield in Chicago, and did not enjoy it. He yelled back. I can only imagine what they were yelling to him, but it's not very professional for a major league baseball player to retaliate like that. Smith, you are on probation and your nickname of "The Man" is suspended for the next week. By the way, the man with the camera gives such insightful play by play. "This is Joe Smith, heckling the fans." Thanks buddy, I couldn't get that from the video. [Video via Home Run ...

Video: Joe Smith Heckles Fans
Published 4/24/2008 by Matt Cerrone at MetsBlog.com
The following video is of Joe Smith swearing and heckling fans in the bleachers at Wrigley Field: …ouch, joe…you’re right, you are in the big leagues…which is probably why you shouldn’t be heckling the fans, regardless of what they’re saying to you…plus, in the You Tube age, every one is watching…ugh…of course, as a Mets fan, i’m watching him and thinking, ‘Go, Joe, give ‘em hell,’ so don’t listen to me… …hat tip to Home Run Derby for the ...

Mets Joe Smith heckles fans?
Published 4/24/2008 by houroc at SportFiends
Fans are always heckling players. It’s part of professional sports. It’s to be expected. I think this is the first time I’ve seen a player go back at them though but it’s about time, LoL. Of course it has to be someone from a New York team. Anyway, this is a video of Mets reliever Joe Smith going back at the fans at Wrigley Field. He doesn’t hold anything back. This would’ve made Cincinnati Reds announcer Marty Brenneman proud. Tags: ...

Heckling video narrator not ready for the WWF announcing table just yet

Transcript of the narration:"Joe Smith heckling the fans.""Joe Smith heckling the fans over here.""Joe Smith.""Joe Smith heckling the fans here.""Joe Smith in a heckling battle with uh, the fans here." Got it. Joe Smith. Heckling. The fans. We were expecting this makeshift announcer to yell out at any moment "Boom goes the dynamite." And how did he forget who they were by the fourth time? More importantly, we wanna party with this guy! Joe Smith of the Mets heckles the Wrigley Bleachers ...

Joe Smith Is Marty Brenneman's Hero
Published 4/24/2008 by Will Brinson at FanHouse
Filed under: Chicago, Mets, Cubs, NL East, NL Central, MLB Fans, MLB VideoYou knew it was coming. There are only so many freaking ridiculous incidents with fans heckling players and/or acting like obnoxious buffoons before one hot-headed player having a bad day strikes back. That player is named Joe Smith, and he pitches for the New York Mets. (Video probably considered NSFW.) Here's what I've got, interpretation-wise, that I'm positive I can audibly make out: You ain't s---. You ...

Mets Relief Pitcher Would Like to Remind Cubs Fans That They 'Ain't [Nothin']'
Published 4/24/2008 at The Sporting Blog
Here's just a Cubs fan sitting in the bleachers in Wrigley, taking in a ballgame, when all of a sudden verbal warfare breaks out, and he's caiught in the cross fire. Observe as Joe Smith, a pitcher for the Mets, tells a certain Cubs fan what he thinks of him (warning: adult language): It really is a good thing that Smith reminded the fan that he's "in the big leagues, you idiot." Without him yelling that, I'd have gone on assuming that Joe Smith was a disgruntled ball boy, or some such. (H/T: Home Run Derby ...

Revelation

So Ronny Cedeno lines a single on a 1-2 pitch off of Aaron Heilman this past Monday ... a pitch that probably should have been nowhere near where it was ... and a Notre Dame fan comes up to me the next day and says to me: "Clearly, Aaron Heilman is the stupidest player to ever come out of Notre Dame." From that, I waited for the next time Heilman imploded to use that to put together a new way to voice my displeasure with the way he's pitching. Thus came Thursday nights post. One of the problems I have when I write is that I expect everyone to be in on the joke that was said to me in a one-on-one situation. It's a stupid ...

Raissman : Wilpon TV Is Leaning On MetsBlog
Published 4/27/2008 by GC at Can't Stop The Bleeding
I can’t vouch for veracity of the below report by the Daily News’ Bob Raissman, but if true, it kinda takes the shine off Carlos Delgado’s surprise resurrection earlier today at Shea Stadium : Prior to the start of the season, Matthew Cerrone joined forces with the Mets and SportsNet New York in a deal to have MetsBlog.com appear on SNY’s Web site. This was followed by a lot of yap-flapping out of Metsville (and MetsBlog) about MetsBlog being able to continue doing its thing. On Thursday, MetsBlog posted a YouTube video of Joe Smith going ...

"You Ain't Sh-t! You Ain't Got Nuthin'!"
Published 4/28/2008 by JAMMQ at The Mets Are Better Than Sex
There's been a video of Joe Smith getting into it with fans sitting in the Wrigley Field bleachers during the Mets visit to Chicago. It's never good when players get into shouting matches with fans. It shows the player has rabbit ears, and makes them look petty. But one can't applaud Joe Smith for actually giving a damn about what fans say to him, even if we wish he had better comebacks.
