Easley’s Run Completes Sweep of Nats

Damion Easley scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 14th inning to win a 4 hour and 45 minute game. Jorge Sosa got the win pitching the last two innings for the Mets. The final score was 3-2. It looked like Nelson Figueroa might take the loss despite pitching another excellent game. He went seven innings giving up only two runs. Ronnie Belliard made an error in the eighth inning and Carlos Delgado made the Nationals pay for it with a bloop single to right field that tied the game and forced extra innings. Nationals pitcher John Lannan, from Long Island, was terrific pitching 6 innings giving up only one run with 11 strikeouts and no walks. Carlos Beltran didn’t ...
