Michael Crabtree is Pretty Good
F Juice.com —
Michael Crabtree of Texas Tech is without a doubt the best WR in college football. His game winning TD reception against #1 ranked Texas was “kind of” a big play. Colt McCoy’s face in this clip, the collapsed goal post, the kick off from the 7…..game of the year. Take it in.

Texas Tech Bell Ringer A Little Too Into His Job
SPORTSbyBROOKS —
Those who witnessed last night’s incredible win by Texas Tech over Texas know that you saw one of the great highlights of all time, one that will be watched over and over again by generations to come. Texas Tech bell ringer Huh? Who’s Michael Crabtree ? I don’t know what you’re talking about, but I’m talking about that Texas Tech bell-ringing dude going after that thing like he was watching the Leryn Franco photo shoot . And he’s not the first to go all freaky on that bell, as you will see after the jump. First, last night’s display of exuberance, captured just after Tech returned an interception for a touchdown: It’s reminiscent of this classic ...
The Alphabetical: College Football, Week 10
The Sporting Blog —
Each Sunday during college football season, Spencer Hall offers a letter-by-letter analysis of Saturday’s college football games.
A is for Agape. Your mouth after watching Michael Crabtree haul in a ball over his back shoulder, turn, maintain his balance, tiptoe along the sidelines and avoid two Texas defenders committing an EPIC FAIL in double coverage for the winning TD in a 39-33 defeat of No. 1 Texas. ...
November Starts Out With A Bang - Red Raider Style
In The Bleachers - A College Football Blog and Podcast —
I am usually hesitant in using the terms…game of the year…or play of the year, but if you watched the Texas-Texas Tech game on Saturday, you would have to agree that up to this point of the season that was the game of the year. The Graham Harrell to Michael Crabtree touchdown pass was the play of the year so far.
You have to give Mike Leach some credit for running a play with that little time left on the clock, because so many things could’ve went wrong where time ran out, but Leach believed in his team and knew they could get job done. Remember last year when Les Miles pulled the same stunt with his team? ...
Michael Crabtree, You’ve got a bright future kid
Hail Mary Jane —
I am usually the kind of sports fan who goes for the underdog but on Saturdays game between #1 Texas and #7 Texas Tech, I was definitely riding with the Longhorns.
Unfortunately they weren't able to pull of the win because Texas Tech's star receiver Michael Crabtree. He has a tremendous upside and he may just be the best receiver in the country.
Here is a video of the last second play that won the game for Tech. Very disappointing for the Longhorns.

So What Are You Thinking? Florida vs. Penn State?
The Big Lead —
First, let’s all congratulate Texas Tech on its epic win Saturday night in Lubbock. (Deep breath. View this.)
Now on to the important question: Which SEC team will Penn State play for the National title, Florida or Alabama? The Tide have a two-game lead in the SEC West and their final two games are at home against fraudulent Auburn (four losses in a row) and Mississippi State (just bad), so pencil them into the SEC title game. And Florida is a virtual lock for the SEC title game, unless you see the Gators losing to struggling Vandy or at home to the Cocks.
We know what you’re going to say: What ...

Crazy College Football Stuff Happened Saturday
MOUTHPIECE Blog // A Chicago-Addled Sports Blog —
College football is not exactly my bread and butter — bread and butter is my bread and butter, actually; since when are you too good for bread and butter? It’s delicious — but I know when I’ve seen some crazy ish. Such is the case with the above video.
That’s Texas Tech receiver Michael Crabtree helping the Red Raiders beat Texas in stunning fashion Saturday night, something Ryan and I learned about via text message. We couldn’t figure out what was going on. We had no access to TV. And trying to understand the game situation from sporadic text messages was nearly ...
And that’s why I like Michael Crabtree so much
NFL Mocks | Covering the 2010 NFL Draft —
[image] You read it here first. In July I was talking about how in awe I am at Michael Crabtree and his ability to make plays with the football. Crabtree just made me look like the smartest man in America. In case you missed it, Texas Tech trailed Texas 33-32 with less than ten seconds left Saturday night in Lubbock. Who did Graham Harrell go to on the next play? You gussed it. Crabtree. And he scored. Not only did he score a touchdown, but he also scored the biggest touchdown in Texas Tech history. It was a touchdown big enough to propel the Red Raiders from 7th to 2nd in the latest BCS standings, and in position to go to their first BCS national championship ...

BCS Realpolitik: Why No. 1 is still just out of Texas' grasp
Dr. Saturday —
In a perfect world, the Doc would be given carte blanche to publicly torch the Bowl Championship Series in effigy and institute the elaborate, double-elimination battle royale of his dreams. But we live in the world we live in, so each Sunday the Doc looks at what the new BCS numbers mean for the rest of the season. Rooting interest: chaos. Always chaos. ...

Dr. Saturday —
• On that thing that is happening Saturday. Finalists for that one trophy of no particular importance -- you know, that one, whatever it's called -- have been identified. See if you can spot the Most Outstanding candidate in this clip:
If you said the passer or receiver of the season's most dramatic, far-reaching touchdown, sorry: The Downtown Athletic Club has clearly established a firm "No Pirates Allowed" policy. Texas Tech's Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree will not be swinging their swords in New York, unless it's swooping in on a rope from the balcony to hijack the award from a stunned ...
The Cynic: Manning Up
Hugging Harold Reynolds —
And I don't mean Eli. Unlike many in the sports and media community who don't like to be reminded of their errors and idiotic statements, I'm man enough to take the heat. To that end, I thought it would be a good time to flash back and revisit my preseason college football predictions and see how I did. 1. Georgia will have at least two losses this year. I thought Georgia was overrated to begin with, and then the injuries didn't help. While they lost to two very good teams (Alabama and Florida) and one archrival, the 9-3 season still has to be considered a big disappointment for Bulldog ...

The Big Picture —
[Editor's note: This will be a regular Friday feature at PlayboyU. It's molded after BDD's Jamboroo.] Another regular season in the books and it was as good as any. Upsets, big plays, memorable collapses... We saw the re-emergence of traditional powers with Alabama and Penn State. We saw the decline of other traditional powers; Tennessee, Auburn, Clemson. We saw the conference power shift from the SEC to the Big 12 (especially the South division). We saw Erin Andrews just about every Thursday night. Thanks, ESPN. We saw that the Big East and ACC shouldn't get an automatic BCS ...
THAT MOMENT WHICH HAPPENED TO OCCUR IN 2008
EDSBS —
We abhor end of the year lists mostly because they come straight from the stat sheet and the standings, not from the complex, muddled story of what actually occurred in the season. They also excise a good amount of the context to a moment, as well. Was any player in any single game as dominant in a moment as Brian Orakpo was against Oklahoma? Even with the stat line–two sacks, four tackles for a loss and a forced fumble–you cheat what he did to Oklahoma in terms of changing protections and flustering Sam Bradford into making–gasp!–two or three mistakes in a game.
Or, to concatenate that bit of praise and turn this into Connections ...
Video Of The Week: Hakeem Nicks And The Second Best Catch Of The Year
The Redshirt Señior —
No, Roy Williams that wasn't Ty Lawson playing for North Carolina in the Meineke Car Care Bowl. Though the Tar Heels hoops coach would have been forgiven for mistaking Hakeem Nicks for his point guard with this ridiculous behind-the-back catch in UNC's loss to West Virginia. Mountaineers linebacker Pat Lazear enjoyed his up-close look a little too much, watching Nicks slide right past him. As good as it was, it's still not the best catch of the year when stacked up against Michael Crabtree's grab for the ages vs. Texas. But nice ...
We Hardly Knew Ye: To the uncoverable receivers of the Class of 2006, well done
Dr. Saturday —

Texas Tech Saturday Morning Notes - Defensive Presence Edition
Double-T Nation —
I am running a little late today, my wireless mouse crapped out on me last night and I had to go buy a new one this morning at Wally-World.

Michael gave me one of the happiest moments of my life here:

Giants Draft Options: Wide Receiver
Giants Football Blog —
Most Giants fans agree that the two biggest areas of need are at linebacker and wide receiver. Which position is at a higher priority is debatable, but it is certain that the Giants will address these two weaknesses during the offseason. Being that the Giants have three picks in the first two rounds, it is possible that Jerry Reese will decide to plug these holes with rookie players. With the recent first day selections of Aaron Ross, Steve Smith, Kenny Phillips and Terrell Thomas, Reese has shown that he is not afraid to use the draft to fix the team’s ...
Recruiting On The High Seas: Wrapping Up The 2009 Class
Double-T Nation —
General Thoughts
I think the edition of Pearlie Graves and Myles Wade are absolutely huge and it's a testament to Ruffin McNeill and his ability to sit in a room with parents and the player and look those parents and players straight in the eye and let them know that he's going to watch over their son. It's not that Texas Tech hasn't had coaches be able to say that before, but I think there's something different when it's coming from McNeill. You can tell he means it.
I digress, yesterday is obviously a culmination of a number of things falling into place. Texas Tech has a full-time recruiter in Antonio Huffman, which is new for this year's ...
Troy Aikman graduating from UCLA
SmackCaster SmackBlog —
Twenty years after leaving the Bruins, Troy Aikman is going to get his degree in June inside, of all places, a basketball arena, according to the Dallas Morning News. That’s when Aikman, 42, at long last will receive a college degree, a bachelor’s in sociology. He’s planning to walk with fellow UCLA graduates at storied Pauley Pavilion.
In other college news, ahem, ABC/ESPN has announced that the Texas Tech-Tech game this season is moving from November to September 19. Will be impossible to top the finish of last year’s game. Remember?

Best Players You Hear About All The Time: Michael Crabtree
The Phinsider —
Switching up a little bit here and breaking down somebody who you may have actually seen before (honestly, is there a single football fan alive who hasn't heard of this guy? Even if you don't follow college football - he's like to Tim Tebow of WRs). Honestly, the title started out as a bit of a joke- but ended up getting a real request from Nicky so why not?
Simply put, Crabtree was one of the most prolific receivers to ever see the field in college football. The question now is, can he make the leap to the next level?
Nearly every mock draft on the planet has Crabtree going in the top 5. Will real NFL scouts see the ...
Meat Market: A concurring opinion
Sixty Feet, Six Inches —
I wanted to add something to Nate's post from yesterday on why the NFL combine is useless. It's a similar point to the one that he made, but it's put in a slightly different way, I think. In the combine, you run all kinds of drills and tests, and you get a physical done, and that's all well and good -- I can see why teams would want to know some of that stuff, and I can especially see why giving prospective players physicals would be key. ...

A Big Step Back for the Big Ten
The Wiz of Odds —
The Big Ten is tweaking its tiebreaking procedure for determining the league's automatic representative to the Bowl Championship Series, according to Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez, who told the university's athletic board about the changes late last week. The first tiebreaker will remain head-to-head competition. The next tiebreaker has been eliminated. That called for the team that played more games against Division I-AA teams to be eliminated. Also gone is the tiebreaker that the most recent team earning the BCS berth will be eliminated. That policy dated to when the conference sent only one team to a bowl, that being ...
Headlinin': Texas won't claim the title, but it will pay for it
Dr. Saturday —
• Tressel takes the skies! The look of evil glee on Jim Tressel's face Monday confirms: The nightmare is real.
It was nice knowing you, Ann Arbor.
• Wait, we still get paid, right? For anyone who missed the late update to Texas' self-declared Big 12 championship Monday, Mack Brown has spoken: The banner will not stand.
But even if the "wall of champions" in Texas' athletic center won't include the 2008 'Horns, a dozen UT assistants will still divvy up $44,000 as a championship bonus, on top of a much healthier bump for appearing in a BCS ...
