Milan Lucic is a bad man
Boston Sports Buzz - Red Sox Patriots Celtics Bruins MLB NFL NBA NHL Baseball Football Basketball... — How are people in this city still pronouncing Lucic's name wrong? With hits like these, this man's name should be in the back of every sports fan's mind from now until the day he retires. Show him the respect he deserves, or you're the next one through the glass. On a somewhat related note, how awesome would it be to decide to go balls out and pay the big bucks for seats in the first few rows (something I've done just a few times myself) and you get repaid by having the glass break right in front of you? Yeah, I'm sure it's a bit on the dangerous side, but it has to be that safety glass stuff, right? All I know is that even ...

OK, Hockey is Still Sometimes Awesome
The Slanch Report — Try as hard as I might I can never truly escape hockey, my once fandom simply won’t allow it. Sigh. Anyhoo, the Bruins are still winless on the season, you know, because they blow, but Milan Lucic did provide some excitement during last night’s game. That’s because he leveled a giant hit on Toronto Maple Leaf Mike Van Ryn that shattered the glass. Van ...

Milan Lucic Hits Mike Van Ryn Through The Glass
FanIQ Blog — Say hello to your NHL hit of the year. Milan Lucic of the Boston Bruins sizes up Mike Van Ryn of the Toronto Maple Leafs perfectly, and drives him right through the glass. Awesome. The announcer might have understated his response when saying, "That'll make every highlight reel for about a decade." Probably longer. At the very least, it'll make every sports blog for about a week. Enjoy.

B's Game Notes: TOR 4 BOS 2
Stanley Cup of Chowder — The Bruins jumped out to an early 2-0 first period lead before giving up 4 unanswered goals. The loss is the B's third loss in a row. The Bruins record is now 2-2-3 overall and 1-1-1 against division foes. - Too bad hockey games are 60 minutes long out 20. - Patrice Bergeron got his first goal of the season. - The B's were laying some HUGE hits on the Leafs. Matt Stajan got his bell rung by Dennis Wideman when the Bruins' defenseman caught him entering the attacking zone with his head down. Then of course there was Milan Lucic literally putting Mike Van Ryn through the ...

The Best NHL Hits Always End With Teammates Picking Glass Out Of Your Jersey
Tirico Suave — This was a once-in-a-lifetime hit and all but Mike Van Ryn still has absolutely nothing on Garry Hoy when it comes to the best story involving someone from Toronto going through a pane of glass.

Awesome Hit Nominally Related to Michigan Hockey
The Ace of Sports — Remember Mike Van Ryn? He left Michigan after his sophomore season for the NHL Draft, and little has been heard from him since. That is, until yesterday, when he was on the receiving end of this spectacular hit: I will say this. Van Ryn did a great job of playing the puck out of the zone despite knowing that a big hit was coming. I just don't think he expected quite THAT big of a hit. ...

LUCIC'S HIT
The #1 Source for New England Sports Opinions and Propaganda... — Milan Lucic's check on Mike Van Ryn of the Maple Leafs. You've probably seen it a hundred times, even if you're not a Bruins fan. But it's a sick hit and should be viewed over and over. Just a few thoughts about it: You can see Van Ryn tighten himself up as he can feel a big hit coming. If he hadn't, he may have been very hurt by the check. The worst hits are the ones you don't anticipate, just ask Dean McAmmond... Or Richard Zednick... And props to the NHL for not bitching to YouTube about ...

Milan Lucic: Team Canada 2010?
Greatest Hockey Legends.com — [image] This is Milan Lucic. As captain of Team Canada in 2007 he is hoisting the "Super Series" trophy after annihilating the Team Russia. Lucic has been in the news a bit lately. First for doing what he is known best for - hitting hard. He put Mike Van Ryn through the glass . Then he did something he may also become known for - he scored a hat trick . For both of these reasons Lucic has become a fan favorite in Boston, similar in both style of play and level of adoration as Terry O'Reilly, and maybe one day Cam Neely. Born in Vancouver to Serbian immigrants, Lucic starred with the WHL's Vancouver Giants, bringing the Memorial Cup to the BC's Lower ...

Josh Q. Public — On the day I was born, the nurses all gathered ’round.  And they gazed in wide wonder, at the joy they had found.  The head nurse spoke up, and she said leave this one alone.  She could tell right away, that I was bad to the bone.  -George Thorogood & The Destroyers Public Service Announcement:  Ok, here we go!  I’ve been waiting for this day.  Anticipating for the day.  Ever since Ulf Samuelsson knee checked Cam Neely (Thank you Tie Domi), I’ve been waiting for a hockey player to come along that I could call my ...

Mike Van Ryn Can't Win For Trying
Deuce of Davenport | Sports News, Commentary, Humor, Videos — We're not gonna lie. It's been a shitty couple of weeks for the Maple Leafs' Mike Van Ryn. First he was helped through some glass on October 23rd. Relive the good times! Van Ryn was probably thinking it couldn't get much worse than that. Wrong. The Habs' Tom Kostopoulous was jealous of Milan Lucic and decided to see if he could put Van Ryn through the glass too. Fail. Bet he wishes the glass gave way that time although he would have taken it out with his face. This time, he stayed down and he'll be out for a month with "a ...

Five Players That Have Fueled The Boston Bruins' Resurgence
Small White Ball — Just when we thought we had satiated our sports fix with red (Sox), green (Celtics) and red, white and blue (Patriots), a team that plays on a sheet of ice in the dead of winter is attempting to push some black and gold into the equation. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I'm going to take it very...very...slow. Here goes. ...

Bruins at the Quarter Pole
Stanley Cup of Chowder — The Bruins are roughly one quarter of the way through the season and off to a surprisingly strong start. Through the first 21 games, the B's are 14-3-4 and currently hold the top spot in the Eastern Conference. To find the last time that the Bruins failed to collect points in a game, you need to go all the way back to October 30th when they lost 3-2 to the Calgary Flames on the road. The B's have gone 9-0-1 since then. The Bruins have used their depth to their advantage by getting significant production from all four lines and getting solid play from younger guys who have stepped up when veterans went down with injuries. The Bruins have gotten ...

Video: Bruins goalie Tim Thomas, a.k.a. Leafs-seeking missile
Puck Daddy — When the Boston Bruins and the Toronto Maple Leafs meet, glorious violence and bizarre physical plays just seem to organically occur. Like when Milan Lucic made it rain glass earlier this season, for example. Last night in the Bruins' 4-3 comeback shootout victory in Toronto, it was goalie Tim Thomas who provided the memorable highlight in the second period: Literally launching himself at Jason Blake, who beat him on the game's first goal, to thwart a scoring attempt. Check it out: Pierre McGuire certainly went into full-on Dick Vitale foaming there, didn't he? "This is ...

Lucic NHL.com Hit Of The Year Canidate
Hub Hockey — "Milan Lucic on Mike Van Ryn - Oct. 23, 2008 Lucic is enjoying a break-out campaign in his second full season in the NHL. His gritty, hard-hitting style of play has established him as a cult hero in the greater Boston area, and amongst fantasy hockey junkies across the globe. Early in 2008-09, before opponents really knew to keep their eyes open, and their heads on a swivel, for the swashbuckling sophomore, Lucic was skating in a game vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs. Defenseman Mike Van Ryn was trying to break out of the Leafs zone, which he accomplished with an outlet pass, but not before Lucic caught him with a clean, but vicious, shoulder check that knocked Van Ryn ...

Top Cheddar: sports, pop culture, and halfers — [image] Dear Bill Simmons/Sports Guy: My name is Jamie Uyeyama and I am writing to you today in all sincerity to let you know that I am officially adopting the Boston Bruins as my team for this year's Stanley Cup playoffs. I am, and always will be, a Vancouver Canucks fan so the Bruins will be my Eastern representation on the road to the Cup. I am doing this with the best intentions at heart because I know that you moved on from the Bruins long ago. With that in mind, I am going to attempt to follow them like they are my team. I'm going to watch every playoff game, live and die with every goal, and then write about it the next day. And I'm going to ...

Why you'll watch - February and March - 7-24-09
Empty Netters — Something we've done the past two offseasons is examine the recently revealed schedule, and just in case you needed a little bit more enticement to watch a team like the Penguins, come up with reasons to watch all 82 games on the slate. So without any further delay, here's why you'll be watching in February and March (February's schedule is short due to the Olympics). Preview: Introducing the 2009-10 Boston Bruins!
Puck Daddy — NHL season previews often sell you an impressive bill of goods before you realize, at the end of the season, you're holding an empty box. Which makes using advertisements and infomercials the appropriate template for Puck Daddy's 2009-10 NHL Season Previews, presented each day throughout September. Last Season's Ad Copy (See also Bruins Eulogy): First in the Eastern Conference, (53-19-10, 116 points); lost in the conference semifinals to the Carolina Hurricanes in seven games. Top 15 Hitters in the NHL
The Hockey Writers — Agreements between hockey fans are few and far between. Deciding on who is the league’s top player is the easiest argument producer. Small details which seem irrelevant can also stir up much debate. What every supporter should be able to approve of is the advice which reads: always keep your head up. There are those who have fallen victim to this trap over and over again. Defensemen, forwards, heck goalies have even engaged in physical contact. A clean hit is extraordinary to view, so is a complete miss. It’s not just the individuals who constantly throw themselves against the ...

MY BIG BAD BOSTON BRUINS PREVIEW
The #1 Source for New England Sports Opinions and Propaganda... — If you'd told me before the 08-09 season that the Bruins would advance as far as Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, I would have been pleased. If you'd told me in the MIDDLE of the 08-09 season that the Bruins would advance only to Game 7 of the Eastern Semis, I would have been disappointed. In other words, the B's have unfinished business. In this inflexible salary cap era, the Bruins were unable to add much to their team. Yet they will be better, because the guys they already have will be better. Yes, they will be better despite the loss of Phil "fantasy points" Kessel. The Bruins have a rare thing in this day and age: ...
