I thought it was a good omen that the first image I saw when tuning in to some lunchtime Cubs baseball was the Reds mascot, Mr. Redlegs, falling off a golf cart and losing his head. Literally. Turns out, it was an entirely different kind of foreshadowing. Not only did the baseball pop of Mr. Redlegs' head, baseballs were popping off the Reds' bats. In particular, Joey Votto. Tragedy was averted after a nasty spill decapitated Mr.Redlegs yesterday in Cincinnati. Mr. Redlegs was able to pop his head back on and continue to be what most people feel is the only entertainment at the Great American Ballpark since it’s inception.
