When Myron Cope passed away earlier this year, I was surprised at all of the national attention it received. I grew up listening to him do color for Steelers broadcasts, and was just aware enough to catch the tail end of his career as a drive time sports host. I loved it of course, ...
Possibly the GOAT: Myron Cope Raps
The Sporting Blog —
When the great Pittsburgh broadcaster Myron Cope passed away in February, one thought went through my head: Damn shame that crazy Yinzer didn t create an early 90s Pirates rap set to the tune of MC Hammer s Can t Touch This. Damn shame, man. Little did I know, Cope did just that, 18 years ago: It s almost futile to attempt to nail down a best moment in a clip that is this outstanding, but I m partial to about the 1:10 mark. Cope comes into the picture, flailing his arms, and just starts making some weird, drunken old man groining noise, followed by, Ring the bell, school s back in, suckeeeerrrrr. Schoooooooool. Ring the bell, school s back ...

We linked to this video from B&C in this morning's Saint Andrew's Net, but -- like the tape in The Ring or the horse humpers video -- it's far too troubling not to share on the largest scale possible. This is Myron Cope, inventor of the Terrible Towel and the famed voice of the Steelers who died this year, doing a "U Can't Touch This" spin-off to honor the Pirates. If you for some reason can't watch YouTube videos on your computer, just imagine that the dwarf from "Twin Peaks" had died, then came back from the grave wearing ...
Terrible Towel Inventor Myron Cope Drops Not-So-Dope Rhymes
FanIQ Blog —
You may have read that article on Fox Sports yesterday that listed the worst franchises in pro sports. Coming in at #1 was the Pittsburgh Pirates.
That admittedly seemed a bit unfair to me, until I saw this video. Then everything made perfect sense.
By the way, the dude in the video is Myron Cope, inventor of the Terrible Towel and the famed voice of the Steelers (although I'm not sure why).
The Hammer pants, however, I cannot speak for.

[Video Highlights] --------- Remember how I said Yates gave up that hit not seconds after Lanny made a comment about the Yates being such a great acquisition by Huntington? I have proof. Watch [this]. You can still hear him talking about Huntington right before Tyler throws the fateful pitch, ---- Freddy pumped ...
Distant Asteroid Named For Myron Cope
Sportsocracy.org —
In today's WTF department, a scientist named Dr. Eric Mamajek received approval from the International Astronomical Union recently to name a 3-mile wide asteroid after the late Steelers' announcer, Myron Cope. The celestial body in question, or more specifically, minor planet, is in orbit around the sun between Mars and Jupiter, between 88 and 387 million miles from Earth in some kind of crazy elliptical pattern.
How crazy would it be if Earth was obliterated by an asteroid named Myroncope? It would be akin to the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man rampaging through New York City, only life as we know it ...
