Tennessee Out-Scraps Memphis To Become New #1 In College Hoops
Published 2/24/2008 at FanIQ Blog
A brief roundup of college hoops ...
Tennessee 66, Memphis 62 I guess I'm going to have to keep being that idiot who still isn't buying the Vols even with their #1 ranking. The first 5-6 minutes of this game were as entertaining as any this year. Lights out shooting turned the game into an 11-11 race before the first TV timeout, then was all scrap the rest of the way. Tennessee got all the rebounds (46-31) and even more loose balls. That was your game. Well, that and Memphis lost the inability to shoot in the second half. By the way, is there a bigger tool in college hoops (outside of Duke) than Joey ...
UCLA Gives Ducks ‘Major League Facial’
Published 2/24/2008 by Chris Mottram at Mr. Irrelevant
Brent Musburger really has a way with words (very end of the clip):
And did Steve Lavin make a Vida Blue reference there? Well played, you grease ball.
Also, this officially ends the first and last time Mr. I will ever have back-to-back Oregon Ducks posts. It’s Sunday, give me a break.
Russell Westbrook Gets Dirty On the Ducks [DUCK!]
Published 2/24/2008 by Unsilent Majority at Deadspin
The weekend wouldn't have been complete without a solid facial and thankfully Mr. Westbrook delivered.
I still can't tell who was on the receiving end (thanks Nike), but I'm sure somebody has already started making fun of him.

Russell Westbrook Completes A "Major League Facial" On The Ducks
Published 2/24/2008 by Awful Announcing- at Awful Announcing
When it comes to double entendres using the term facial for a dunk is pretty high on the list. But when you go further and call it a "Major League Facial" then my ears are going to perk up. Send it in big fella (or 6 foot 3 inch Westbrook)! ...
What Would You Have If You Had Some Balls On Your Chin

Russell Westbrook let the PAC-10 know the answer in case they never heard The Chronic. Unsilent linked this yesterday at Deadspin but we had to link it ourselves. Victim LeKendric Longmire is lucky that Russell didn't follow that up with some bukakke.

Weekend Tube Review: NASCAR's Debacle in Cali
Published 2/25/2008 at The Sporting Blog
By Brian Powell Easily the most brutal sporting event of the weekend was The Auto Club 500, which delayed over five hours due to rain Sunday afternoon and FOX somehow managed to keep people hanging around until 3AM(!). NASCAR started the race around 6PM and got a little over twenty laps in before a pretty nasty crash that was the result of water on the track. It left Casey Mears on his side and the race red flagged: Cars stopped for almost an hour as race officials actually used giant saws to cut into the track to allow rain water to disperse from under the asphalt. NASCAR then got Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson into pace cars ...
Big Dance Players 2 Watch (Part 2)
Published 3/20/2008 by Austin Burton at NBA Rumors - Trades - Free Agents - Basketball Olympics - Dime Magazine
March Madness is where some stars are made (Bryce Drew) while other stars fade (Aaron Gray). What we’re doing over this two-part segment is putting you up on 16 Players 2 Watch during the NCAA Tournament: one guy from every number-seed in the field. For example, out of the four #16 seeds, we’ll tell you about one player in particular that you should keep an eye on to make some noise in the Dance. Then one player from the #15 seeds, one from the #14 seeds and so on, all the way down to the #1 seeds. (Read the #16 through #9-seeds HERE ...
Love and Westbrook declare for NBA Draft
Published 4/18/2008 by Gilbert at Obscure Sports Quarterly
It’s official now. Kevin Love and Russell Westbrook have declared for the NBA Draft.
Both haven’t hired an agent yet, but I highly doubt they’ll be coming back to UCLA — both are easily talented enough to be taken in the first round.
Both Love and Westbrook played admirably at ...
