Dodgers Fan Dad Catches Ball While Holding Baby in the Other Hand
Published 5/8/2008 at FanIQ Blog
OK, don't worry, this guy actually did successfully hold onto the baby with one hand while catching the home run in his glove with the other.
Now that's a dedicated fan ... and an idiot. Simply taking a baby to Dodgers Stadium would classify as child abuse, so I'm not sure what you'd call this.
Hysterically, and I'm not sure if Vin Scully is that prescient, but during his home run call he noted "that baby is going up into the seats."
Just about, Vin, just about.
God bless Dodgers fans.
FATHER OF THE YEAR RIGHT HERE

Vin Scully's fitting call of this home run in the Mets' 12-1 drubbing of the Dodgers: "...that baby is going up into the seats." Well, not quite. Turns out the fan who caught the ball held onto his infant. I'm no parenting expert, but I'm great at telling other people how to raise their kids, so I don't recommend fully extending while trying to catch a 380-foot blast if you're holding your baby in your other arm. Well, unless you hate your baby. Then do whatever you like. Hell, if the home run's going over your head, toss the kid up there to see if it can ...

There’s a Britney Spears joke here, but I’m not going to be cliche enough to tell it. So I’ll just let you enjoy the video of a dad at a baseball game more worried about catching a home run ball than he is shielding his infant from taking one in the face.
Forget the baby… This guys catchin the ball

During the Mets and Dodgers showdown yesterday, the Mets were all over them winning 12-1. During that shallacking there was a home run hit into the stands and one of the candidates for worst parent of the year caught it.
Now I understand that the chance to catch a ball at the ballgame doesn’t come that often but this guy was holding his kid with one arm, it didn’t look that secure. He looked determined to catch that ball, no matter what, even if that meant dropping his kid in the process. ...
This Guy Holds on Tight, Keeps Baby and the Ball

Here’s a thought-starter for you: you’re sitting in the stands at a baseball game holding your baby. A ball comes flying at you. Do you: a. Drop the baby and go after the ball b. Protect the baby and get out of the way c. Stay your ground, hold the baby and catch the ball If you said anything other than b you’re a bum. But that’s just what this Dodger fan did during Wednesday’s game. And since he managed to pull it off, kudos to him. But what wife had to say to him after seeing the clip on Sportscenter? I would’ve loved to be a fly on the wall for that one!

‘Kudos & Wet Willies,’ Pitchers Edition
Published 5/12/2008 by Ed Valentine at Bugs & Cranks
It’s time for the weekly ‘Kudos & Wet Willies,’ praising the best performers of the week and heaping scorn on the worst. There are a lot of pitchers on the list this week
Kudos to …
Joe Torre: The former Yankee skipper is in LA and he is having fun again. Good for him. Oh by the way, he has the Dodgers playing very well.
Darrell Rasner: The 27-year-old has won his first two starts with the Yankees, helping to stabilize the rotation. Aaron Small, anyone?
The Florida Marlins: ...
