Another night, another head shot. Time to hear from Colin Campbell, yet again.

Conspiracy Theories
Published 12/29/2007 by Staff at The Pensblog
So many times we forget why Washington Craps and their fans are jokes. Thankfully they have a message board. This whole mess started after the Caps head coach Bruce Whatever said this: "It took the doctor so long to get down here (the bench), we couldn't get him back on the ice," coach Bruce Boudreau said. "He got a couple ...

Concussions? Bah! Never heard of em!
Published 1/7/2008 by Kevin at Barry Melrose Rocks
It really amazes me the lengths NHL teams will go to avoid diagnosing their players with concussions. James Mirtle has a great article on it today at his blog. Maybe it's the fear of attaching the stigma to a player? We all saw (and made) the jokes about jello head Eric Lindros after his concussion problems. Maybe teams are afraid goons will go headhunting if they know a particular player is toughing out a concussion. Either way, it's not to hard to figure out who is hurting from one. Exhibit A: Carolina's Matt Cullen gets truck sticked by Colton Orr of the Rangers. That's ...

Rangers Report Card
Published 1/27/2008 by Doug Fischer at Blue Shirts on Broadway
Here we are, the All-Star break. The Rangers, to this point are clearly one of the most disappointing teams in the NHL. The Blueshirts are currently 24-21-6 (54 points), coming into the season I honestly figured we would have 10, maybe 12 losses at the break, so how do you grade such an underachieving bunch? While trying to be as lenient as possible, I’ll give it my best shot… HEADS OF THE CLASS: Scott Gomez: Grade A. Notable Stats, 11g, 36a. The only Ranger All-Star, Gomez has been one of the few consistent offensive players on the team. His 47 points lead the team and believe it or ...

Rutherford's anger understandable, because he's seen Canes KO'd so often

But that is really about it. The hit by Doug Weight on Brandon Sutter was a beauty, and hopefully Sutter has learned a valuable lesson from it. He's got to keep his head up. "I've had four players - Erik Cole, Trevor Letowski, Matt Cullen and now Brandon Sutter - get badly injured on hits to the head and only one of the guys who hit them was suspended. So don't tell me the league is concerned about hits to the head because it's not." I don't mind hits to the head in this fashion. I think Don Cherry has always said the right thing, and that is that the hard plastic shoulder gear needs to go. Anyways, for your viewing pleasure, ...

Well, when Henrik Zetterberg, Kirk Maltby, and Tomas Holmstrom return to the lineup, the team will be one over the 23-man roster limit. At that point, they’ll have to send ...
Colton Orr lays out Matt Cullen
I just had to post this since it was a big hit. Last night Rangers' Colton Orr laid out Hurricanes' Matt Cullen with a big hit that looked to be a little high. After the hit Mike Commodore went after Orr but Orr managed to do well against him. Watch it all below. Colton Orr hits Matt Cullen, then fights Mike Commodore

Blindside Hockey Hits Look Painful
By Chris Mottram What do you post when the internet is dead? Huge hockey hits, of course. That's, like, rule No. 2 right behind "beg Deadspin daily for links" in the sports blogger handbook. So, enjoy the Rangers' Colton Orr knocking out Carolina's Matt Cullen, who suffered a broken his nose and was concussed: Not only did Orr dish out the hit, but he also won the subsequent ...
Stinkin' Refs
I don't like bitchin' about the Refs when a team loses, it just comes off all wrong. And usually, it really wasn't the refs causing the loss. Last night the Rangers won with a solid effort, extreme goaltending and a pair of Jagr goals. However, the call against Colton Orr has me furious. Orr was given a five, a ten and a game for the hit on Cullen. I'm not sure he deserved even two minutes. In ...
And speaking of holiday spirit….
Colton Orr used his forearm and elbow to give Matt Cullen a nice concussion (and a busted snoot) last night. In return, the Hurricanes gave the Rangers the game. You’re welcome. The game was a blur to me, really. It was just a long nightmare of gaffes and goofs and a complete lack of physicality whatsoever. Lavi [...]
The Comeback Kids
The Rangers did something last night that they haven't done since the first game of the season. They came from behind in the third period to win a hockey game. Jaromir Jagr did something he hasn't done all year. He scored two goals in one game. Even the refs did something that I have never seen. They called a five minute interference call on Colton Orr who leveled Matt Cullen, knocking him out of
“Obscene Display Of Officiating”
Larry Brooks of the NY Post on the penalty call against Orr last night… They overcame an obscene display of officiating from a four-man unit that had no control of the match at all, and simply invented a major penalty against Colton Orr midway through the second period when he caught Matt Cullen carrying the puck with his head down cutting from right to left in the offensive zone and ...
