I'm not going to say Michael Barrett had this coming, but he had this coming. While I loved both cheap shots he gave to A.J. Pierzynski and Carlos Zambrano, it was just a matter of time ...
Baseballs Win Yet Another Battle in Their Never-Ending War Against Faces
Published 7/3/2008 at The Sporting Blog
I think the Padres Michael Barrett might need to be fitted for one of those Little League style helmets after this little oopsy-daisy last night: If you stuck around until the end there, you heard the play-by-play guy say, This is a tough guy Michael Barrett and I ll tell ya what, it would not shock me if he stayed in the game. Well, that announcer was totally right! Barrett did stay in the game cause he s the most badass player evar! Just kidding. Contrary to what that announcer seems to think, Barrett's face is not made of titanium alloy. He left the game with a broken nose. (Video via The ...

BASEBALL IS BAD FOR YOUR FACE
Published 7/3/2008 at With Leather - Sports news and gossip because real news is depressing
The Padres' Michael Barrett fouled a ball off his face last night, then spent a couple days writhing on the ground in pain as if a baseball traveling at 90 miles an hour hurts or something. I don't want to brag, but this is basically ...

I apologize for not getting something up sooner - I'm trying to get some stuff taken care of around the office so I can go drown some golf balls this afternoon. Obviously posting will be pretty sporadic from now until next week - have a happy 4th of July everyone - and if you blow off a finger doing some dumb drunken fireworks related stunt, make sure you videotape it and send it to us, I want to laugh at your stupidity. ...
I don’t think Michael Barrett likes balls on his face
Published 7/3/2008 by houroc at Hail Mary Jane » Hail Mary Jane
So during last nights Padres/Rockies game, Padres catcher Michael Barrett swung at a pitch and he didn’t quite get all of it. In fact he got just enough of it to make the ball ricochet off his bat and hit him right in the shnoz.
That sucks but I’ll take that any day over this or this.
Thanks to the Fight ins for this one.

Catcher Michael Barrett of the San Diego Padres had a painful at bat on Wednesday. Barrett swung at a 1-1 delivery from Colorado Rockies pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez. The good news is Barrett hit the ball. The bad news is that the ball hit him in the nose.
Barrett immediately fell to the ground and medical personnel rushed out to check him out. He eventually got to his feet and was taken to a nearby hospital. Preliminary reports indicate that Barrett fractured his nose. How long Barrett will be out hasn’t been determined, however he is expected to go on the DL.

We here at the Saloon declare this week "Shattered Testicle Week". One of the Flying Molina Brothers took a Mariano Rivera fastball off the groin this week. But the good news is that his parents will finally be able to tell him apart from his other douchebag brothers. Diamondback Chris Snyder was also put on the DL this week with Testicular Rupturitis (I made that up). So there you have it. The first week of July will now be known as Shattered Testicle Week. What? There's already a holiday this week? Bullshit. Manny Ramirez pushed the Red Sox traveling secretary for ...
