MMA takes another blow with ESPN report on kids' training
Published 7/20/2008 by Josh Nason (noreply@blogger.com) at Ropes, Ring and Cage
Ugh. That was the one word that entered my mind immediately when seeing ESPN's Outside the Lines Sunday, a full feature on the growing trend known as kids MMA. When I originally heard the piece would air, I immediately thought that we were headed for another slight on the sport. It has become easier than ever to dismiss MMA during this growth explosion because people don't understand it. Meanwhile, another boxer went down this week in horrific fashion and yet, no one blinks an eye. But as I watched the segment, I cringed. Kids getting punched in the head, dropped on their head, kicked in the ribs....all without protective head gear of any type. ...

ESPN’s “Outside The Lines” Feature On MMA For Kids (video)
Published 7/20/2008 by Adam Morgan at Five Ounces of Pain
ESPN’s “Outside The Lines” television show just recently put together a feature on children’s MMA and the morality of it all. Featured in the piece is “Ultimate” Drake Dudley, a 14 year old phenom who has been called the “Tiger Woods of MMA.” The piece is good and takes a look at the good and the bad of children’s MMA. After the jump is a follow-up piece with Frank Shamrock debating Dan Doyle on whether or not MMA is too violent for children.

The new ‘sport’ of human cockfighting mixed martial arts is in dire need of better spokespeople. This douche Frank Shamrock and the other dillhole Dana White are doing their cause serious harm with ridiculous public appearances in favor of MMA.   ...

Whole Lotta BS

There should be a book about all the cheap ways the Yanks have found to win games over the years. (Or a pamphlet on the games they've legitimately won in the last 30 years.) They've outdone themselves yet again today, winning on a weird play where Abreu loses a ball in the sun, drops it, but still tries to force the runner out at second. He overthrows the bag, but A-Rod gets ball and throws to second, and somehow they still get the guy out. Before the next batter has a chance to hit, the guy on first gets caught stealing. To end the game. Yanks win by 1. I can't wait till they tear that stadium down so none of these visiting teams will shit their pants at the ...

MMA for the kids
Published 30 days ago by Bobby Deren at MMA Crunch
ESPN continues to show more love for mixed martial arts. In this latest story, check out their view on mma for kids and how young they should be when they start training. IT is a very debatable issue as some kids start as early as pre-school. Is that too early to push kids into such a fierce sport? Or will it help mold them into more confident, strong-willed adults?

ESPN’s Look at MMA for Kids

I used to be a huge fan of ESPN’s “Outside the Lines”. Then they started doing it too often and exhausting a lot of the good subject matter. There’s just not as much as you think happening outside those lines. This look at children’s MMA, though, is interesting to say the least. There are some good points raised, but there’s also a lot of selective thinking going on here, like the pediatrician at the 8:30 mark who claims that children don’t naturally fight one another. Either he was never actually a child himself or he didn’t grow up on planet ...
