WOW!!!!!!!! Alexander Ovechkin had a monster night last night when the Washington Capitals played the Boston Bruins. The guy not only got to the 50 goal mark but he also recorded a hat trick and two assists!!! Can you believe that?????
Final score? Caps 10, Boston 2. Talk about an ass whooping…

My perception of goal scoring accomplishments in the NHL was forever jaded after NHL '94. Scoring 60 goals with one player was to be expected. But apparently it has been since 1996 that we've seen a 60 goals in the real thing, courtesy of some guy named Mario Lemieux.
Well, Alexander Ovechkin is going to fix all that very soon. Last night he managed a hat trick in just the first period, goals 50, 51, and 52. With 15 games remaining, breaking the 60 goal barrier is inevitable.

Alex Ovechkin had been a slump lately. This was one of his worst stretches in his young career, in which he had only scored 1 goal in his last 8 games. He got out of the slump last night though.
He scored 3 goals in the first period as the Capitals got off to a really quick start, scoring six goals in the first period. Damn and that lead them to finish with a 10-2 victory over the Bruins last night.
