You Always Remember Your First... And So Will We
Japers' Rink — Not a bad first career playoff goal, and, for the time being at least, this goal is as repeat-watchable as " The Goal " (which, if you haven't seen in a while, I strongly urge you to check out for the 10 billionth time).

Top Shelf: Stop! Or The Penguins Will Shoot!
The Big Lead — Lee Diekemper takes you on a magical tour of last night’s hockey action. Allow me to introduce Carrie Milbank. (Ed. Note: Hello, there!) The former Houston Texans cheerleader is a co-host of a daily webcast on NHL.com known as “The Hockey Show.” Surely she was happy last night as three of the four playoff games were either decided in the final minutes or overtime. Washington 5, Philadelphia 4: Memo to Flyers: Take care of the puck when No. 8 is on the ice. Alex Ovechkin capped a three-goal third period for the Caps with arguably the best play of the playoffs thus far. AO strips the ...

Ovechkin's first
james mirtle — The ridiculous thing is Ovechkin turned a nothing play, with two Flyers breaking out of the defensive zone with the puck, into a game-winning goal. That's what great players do. (And how about that crowd...) . Labels: Capitals ...

Ovechkin’s game winning goal: Alexander Ovechkin saves the day in game 1
Hail Mary Jane — Alexander Ovechkin’s first playoff game was definitely memorable. He was held in check the whole night. The Flyers managed to hold Ovechkin to no shots on goal until the late in the third period. When he finally got his opportunity he made sure to capitalize on it. With the score tied and under 5 minutes to go in the game Ovechkin stole the puck and scored the go ahead goal for the Capitals which proved to be the game winner. The Caps took game 1 5-4 over the Flyers. Not a bad way to start off your playoff career. ...

Ovechkin’s First Playoff Goal - Video
Hockey Beat — Washington Capitals superstar, Alexander Ovechkin, has finally made it to the playoffs and he got his first goal a couple nights ago when the Caps defeated the Philadelphia Flyers (which was the same night when poor Patrick Thoresen took a puck to the groin). Here’s the goal: ...

NHL Four-cast: Washington Capitals
Scotty Hockey — 1 - Why is this team worth watching? AO. When you have a player who can do this, and this, and this, and especially this and enjoys it this much, you have it made. Ovechkin's enthusiasm is infectious and a true pleasure to watch. 2 - Are they better or worse than last year? Worse. Yes Ovie and Backstrom and Semin all have more experience under their belts but they don't play defense. Letting Cristobal Huet go and replacing him with Jose Theodore is a definite downgrade, especially as Theodore stepped up his game purely to get a new contract, and he didn't even do that great in going 28-21-3 with a ...

The Ovechkin Highlight Reel
Slap Shot — Washington’s Alexander Ovechkin is a one-man highlight reel, a player who has scored so many spectacular goals they spark a debate over which is the most amazing. We offer the top six, brought to you in full glory via video, with more certainly to come … No. 1: Jan. 16, 2006 vs. Phoenix. The goal that launched Ovechkin into YouTube reverence remains his most amazing, scored while sliding on the ice, flipped over his head, past a cast of befuddled Coyotes. No. 2: Feb. 18, 2009 vs. Montreal. This one starts with Ovechkin passing the puck to himself past a clueless defenseman, then making another amazing move and crashing through another defenseman to shoot. No. 3: Jan. ...

PowerlessPuckhead's Thoughts
The Washington Capitals have such a talented offensive core. It shouldn't be this hard to score a power play goal. The Caps have been gift wrapped a couple of early penalties in both game one and two in their playoff series with the Philadelphia Flyers. The failed to score on either. On the powerplay the Caps were just 1 for 3 in game one, and a dismal 0-6 in game two. The Flyers have one of
Flyers Dominate; Series TiedWashington Capitals
It was only a matter of time that the Capitals lost a game. It’s a shame they had to do it in front of the home crowd, but let’s hope there was a major lesson learned on Sunday afternoon. The Flyers completely took the Caps out of their game in Game 2. The Capitals were visably frustrated by their inability to score in the 1st period when they had chance after chance after ...
Capitals 1, Flyers 0The DC Sports Page
OK, regular readers might be confused. No, I am not the regular Caps commentator on this site, nor do I play one on TV. The above is not the final score, but the series standing right now. The Washington Capitals won the series opener, 5-4 . The last of the NHL opening round series to start, the Caps started off fast, with Donald Brashear scoring just 3 minutes in. The second period ...
Second Period MeltdownCapitals Insider
Three goals in less than four minutes for the Flyers, who now lead 4-2. That could be the game unless Cristobal Huet returns to the form that helped him win nine straight starts and the Caps' big guns score a few in the third. One more thing: Did I ...
