chone Probably the worst thing ever, but I can't stop watching. I'm entranced by Lou's chicken walk and Ozzie's wardrobe change. -
tziller Do not want. -
gadams24 I just got wind of this on Sportscenter and I rushed to tell my son about it. He googled it up and we were rollin'! We're originally from Chicago and now we're living in LA and we're both Sox and Cubs fans and we think this is the greatest stuff to hit Chicago in years. We don't get this type of stuff out here and we really miss it (in addition to the fantastic Chicago food!) The current baseball success in Chicago is great for the greatest city on earth and we hope it continues to the world series. No matter who wins, south side or north side, as really true Chicagoans, WE ALL WIN! -
BF191 Sorry -
This commercial is first and foremost embarrassing for the managers, then it is as offensive and ill advised as the Harry Caray imitator earlier this year, and virtually any Comcast ot AT&T "cable" commercial. Problem, Chevy is not a beloved brand in Chicago or probably anywhere else since the 1950’s when Diana Shore sang “See the USA in your Chevrolet"
Don't you think anyway that most of these firms that advertise with the ball teams just do that to get perks and tickets for their bosses?

Lou Piniella And Ozzie Guillen Rap For Cubs, White Sox Series
Published 6/21/2008 at FanIQ Blog
I'm sure most of you can understand why the weekend White Sox/Cubs tilt was highly anticipated. It features crosstown rivals and both teams are in 1st place in their divisions. That always makes for entertaining baseball.
But perhaps even more anticipated than the actual ...

Sweet Lou and Ozzie Better Have Gotten Straight Paid for Rapping a Car Commercial
Published 6/22/2008 by Will Brinson at FanHouse
Filed under: Chicago, White Sox, Cubs, MLB Media Watch, MLB VideoHonestly, there probably should have been two commas tossed the way of Lou Piniella and Ozzie Guillen for the abomination of a commercial that they star in below. The painful skinny: Lou and Ozzie, promoting the Chevy Crosstown Tent Event, engage in the most awkward rap off of all time. North Side versus South Side. Boy-e. ...
Ozzie Guillen and Lou Piniella Rap Video
Published 6/22/2008 by Stephen Kersey at Knuckle Curve - Baseball News
Money can make people do some crazy things. Just ask Ozzie Guillen and Lou Piniella, who were featured in a rap video that was pimping a Chicago car dealership.
Guillen, coach of the Chicago White Sox, and Piniella, coach of the Chicago Cubs, actually both do a pretty decent job of staying on the beat. In the rap video, the two rap about the rivalry between the two teams.
While the rap video and rivalry won’t make anyone forget about Tupac Shakur versus Biggie Smalls or Jay-Z versus Nas — or even Eminem versus Insane Clown Posse — it will probably help the dealership sell a few cars to Chicago’s baseball fans. ...

But the fact is I was napping... ... 'cause Contreras, the bed was crapping ... Let's try to figure out where Saturday's flop against the Cubs fits in the Jose Contreras Distraction Scale: 10.0: Imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit . 9.0: Served with divorce papers. 8.0: Served with subpoena in a smuggling investigation . 7.0: Prescription for back pills wasn't ready. 6.0: Missing family in Cuba. (n/a) 5.0: Ill-fitting cup. 4.0: Filled car up with unleaded instead of plus though dashboard recommended otherwise. 3.0: McDonald's cashier wouldn't give him 10 percent discount. 2.0: He is assessed for street repairs -- $40 per house, $115 per ...

Ozzie and Piniella Rap About Their Endorsements

Chicagoans have a long history of crappy athlete raps. Okay, just the one, but it’s a trend setter: Therefore, we shamefully include the following in the Chicago Sports Craptastic Pantheon: a car commercial with rapping managers/former athletes. Ozzie Guillen and Lou Piniella are trying to be the next Biggie and Tupac
Published 6/22/2008 by houroc at SportFiends
I don’t know if theres a way that I can prepare for this but I will try by warning you that this is definitely one of the most disturbing videos I’ve seen in a long time. This is a video of the managers of the two Chicago baseball squads rapping in a Chevy Commercial. Ozzie Guillen and Lou Piniella tried their best but they definitely make me want to stay as far away from Chevy’s as possible (not that I wanted one before anyway).
The longtime suffering of Cubs fans continues…
Thanks to Awful Announcing for this one.

Bad Idea: Ozzie Guillen and Lou Piniella Have Rap Battle
Published 6/23/2008 by Anthony Hall at MVN Outsider
Forget Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G. Forget The Game and 50 Cent. Forget Jay-Z and Nas. The latest, greatest feud in the world of hip-hop is between…Ozzie Guillen and Lou Piniella?
Apparently, the folks at Chevy put their heads together and figured that the best way to sell vehicles is to air a commercial featuring a rap battle between Chicago’s two baseball managers. The resulting advertisement is a combination of being cringe-inducing and oddly addicting; embarrassing and hilarious. With a hat tip to Awful Announcing, check out a sight that none of us could have fathomed seeing in our lifetime. ...

In the panthenon of bad decisions that celebrities can make "making a rap video" has to be near the top. In fact its probably right under "commiting a felony" and "cheating on your spouse". You get bonus points if you can do more than one at the same time. Apparently no one informed Sweet Lou or Ozzie Thanks to Awful Announcing for the story
Weekend Tube Review
Published 6/23/2008 at The Sporting Blog
[image] Euro 2008: ESPN's Euro 2008 coverage hasn't necessarily been pulling in stellar ratings this month (the highest being a .9), but you have to remember that most games have been on ESPN2 and during weekday afternoons. The play and commentating have been outstanding and this weekend was no different. Andy Gray is as good an analyst as there is in any sport and both Play-by-Play men, Adrian Healey and Derek Rae, have been spot on. The only broadcaster that people seem to be undecided on is analyst Tommy Smyth, but the Irishman did an excellent job this past Saturday during the Netherlands-Russia match aired on ABC. The semifinals will go down this Wednesday and ...
ModernTube: Lou Piniella and Ozzie Guillen start rap rivalry
Published 6/23/2008 at Big League Stew
This probably doesn't have the potential to be the North-South version of Tupac and Biggie (or to involve at least one Windy City rapper, Common-Ice Cube or Kanye-Dubya), but it sure took the baseball blogosphere by storm over the weekend. I'd say to go ahead and enjoy what you're about to see, but I just can't advise you to do the impossible ...
