Cram Session: Basketball is here, but surprises are not
The Dagger —
Today is ESPN's big college basketball kick-off marathon, and in
between screaming shots of students and well-edited specials about the
Barack Obama-Craig Robinson connection you've already grown tired of,
there was actual basketball played last night. Nothing surprising
happened. A quick compendium of the results:
Stephen Curry, right from the start. Last year's Big Dance darling (and JoePo's Sportsman of the Year)
is going to have an adjustment to make this year: Rather than sneaking
along all season, waiting to ambush teams with his incredible, and
still unknown, talent, people are ...
Fresno State frosh Paul George is dunktacular
The Dagger —
Very early Tuesday morning (too early for any human to be awake, as far as I'm concerned) I was recapping Monday night's basketball action,
and across my TV flashed a red-and-white specter of dunkness. I turned
up the volume, found out it was Fresno State's Paul George, and that in
the midst of the Bulldogs' loss to St. Mary's Monday he did something

Paul George dunks on some white guy naturally trying to take a charge

Don’t feel bad Mickey as this isn’t the first time he posterized someone. And you guys did win the game! (Video of previous highlight reel dunk after the jump)
Five high-fliers destined for highlight reels
Beyond the Arc —
It’s amazing how a dunk can change a game.
After all, it’s just two points. Dunks usually aren’t game-winning shots and sometimes require only minimum effort to perform.
If pretty much every player in college basketball can throw down a dunk, how special can they be, anyway? ...
The West Coast's Best Dunkers
Storming The Floor —
As home to Boeing (well, not anymore) the West Coast should specialize in high-flying machines. Here are a few of the names you'll probably see on SportsCenter this year. Paul George, Fresno St. The 6'7", 190 lb. George isn't just a phenomenal dunker, he's a potential top-ten NBA pick. For now, he's using his NBA athleticism against mid-major conference guards, which really isn't fair. Here, George soars over a St. Mary's guard (not Patty Mills). Sacramento State was 2-27 last year, but George's dunk over two Hornets was their greatest ...
