Stanley Cup Finals: Overtimes Rule
Intentional Foul — We do not profess to being hockey experts here. In fact, I can count the number of games I’ve seen since the NHL has moved away from ESPN on two hands. That doesn’t mean it’s not appreciated. It is. I’ve long been a believer that NHL Playoff Hockey is one of the most competitive and grueling ways to win a professional level championship. I think, for me, it has more to do with player and team recognition. Nevertheless, I normally watch the some of the Finals, especially when it’s a deciding game. So there I was last night, expecting to see Detroit crowned ...

Petr Sykora Calls His Shot
Doubt About It — So I thought I would post this before I go to bed, basically because it needs to be on this blog and because no matter how this series turns out, people in Pittsburgh will remember this goal for a long time. Sykora Might Play Game 6 for Penguins
Slap Shot — With their backs to the wall in the Stanley Cup final at the Igloo tonight (Tuesday), right winger Petr Sykora may be tapped to play for the first time since early in the Washington quarterfinal, 16 games ago. After taking part in the morning skate, Sykora said he would learn whether he got the nod from Coach Dan Bylsma after the pregame warmup tonight. Sykora, 32, has one assist and is minus-3 in five playoff games this spring. But during the regular season he had 25 goals and 21 assists. If he plays tonight, he will probably replace Miroslav Satan, who has no points and is minus-3 in limited action this Cup final. Bylsma said that Sykora’s inclusion would be a ...

Sykora to the Wild?
Goon's World — Pucks Gone Wild is reporting (confirmed by Russo) that the Minnesota Wild have invited Petr Sykora to try out for the Minnesota Wild. I would imagine he will make the Wild this season. I am hoping he is taking Benoit Pouliot's spot on the roster who has been anything but a disappointment. Stanley Cup winner Petr Sykora, that’s who. And just what we needed, a guy who consistently scores. Word has it he’s coming to St. Paul on Tuesday for a tryout. When he makes the team he’s expected to sign a 1 year deal worth around $1.25m. Whose roster spot does he take? My best guess…Colton ...
