Morning Link Dump – Angelica, Mattingly, Bissinger, Bear-Baiting
TheScore.com Blog —
Obligatory Sports Babe This morning we’ll go with Angelica Bridges, ex of Sheldon Souray, who is embroiled in a child custody case with the Edmonton Oiler defenseman, and also really hot. via To Aggregate Or Not To Aggregate… In a great piece from The Big Money that examines the invaluable baseball rumour site, MLB Trade Rumors, and notes that the debate over sites that aggregate other people’s content is fierce in most corners, “except, curiously, in the sports world, where the media-aggregator relationship has remained surprisingly sympathetic, and maybe even symbiotic.” ...
Raiders Sign Pigeon; Will Use on Kickoff Coverage
DETROIT4LYFE —
The Oakland Raiders signed a pigeon at halftime of yesterday’s 13-9 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. The pigeon might start at cornerback opposite of All-Pro corner Nnamdi Osomugha, but only played on kickoff coverage yesterday against the Eagles.
The pigeon did not make any tackles, but according to the announcers, the pigeon’s containment skills were excellent, a reason Al Davis cited when signing the pigeon.
“I really think Pigeon will help our defense considerably,” coach Tom Cable said.
“He did a great job containing yesterday. He is one of the fastest guys in the ...

The best part of the video is the instant replay. Make sure you stick around for
that.
Oh, animals. It's so adorable when you do human things. I like to pretend
that this little guy can talk, too, and that his name is Leonard and he speaks
with a slightly French-Canadian accent. I imagine this as the conversation he
had with #24, Michael Huff(notes).
Leonard: Hey, what's going on, fellas?
Huff: We're just, um, playing a football game.
Leonard: Yeah? Who are you playing?
Huff: The Eagles. ...
Week 6 NFL Pool Results

The was a strange weekend of football, of course any weekend that Oakland wins is strange. As a group we did terrible. Only one of us got more than half the picks right, Carm. Congratulations Carm. So she's the first to have two wins on the season. The rest of us? Well, time to give up on the idea of being professional gamblers. Craig in Calgary did get 7 or 14. Jlahey and I each got six. Low score on the week was Aagoodfella.
On a side note, I usually change all the spreads so they are none of them are whole numbers so there can't be any ties, this week I missed one, Cleveland at Pittsburgh had a 14 point spread. Pittsburgh won by ...

Video: Manu Ginobili kills a bat during Spurs-Kings game
Posted Sports : Basketball —
Manu Ginobili is a man of many talents. And he added another feat to his list when his San Antonio Spurs played the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night — bat wrangler.
The offending bat first appeared late in the first quarter, teasing players and officials, first stopping play and then skirting away to evade capture. Unfortunately, the bat was doomed when Ginobili entered the picture as he knocked it down with one hand, grabbed the rodent and carried it off the court as the crowd applauded loudly. His hand was sanitized by a trainer, but no one would have judged if he left the court for a ...
