El Lyon venció la terquedad esocesa del Rangers (no caían hace tres años en su parque por competencias europeas), para clasificarse con autoridad a los octavos de final de la UEFA Champions League. Sidney Govou y Karim Benzema (por partida doble) fueron los verdugos de Ibrox Park, que llevaron al Lyon a clasificar por quinta ocasión consecutiva a la fase de muerte súbita en Champions.
